Rhythm Of Love

I always thought the behaviors were normal, that everyone’s relationship were like that behind closed doors. All of my childhood I’d watch and listen as my mother would fight with her husband. Always screaming, cussing, fighting, all the lies, and then the hitting, cuts and bruises began. Around the age six I asked my mom why he treated her this way, I remember asking her didn’t love mean happy ever after like all the movies, I told her that her prince was supposed to be the good guy that makes all the bad go away not him being the bad and causing all the pain, her reply was “ sweetie this is mommy’s happily ever after. Unfortunately things are not as easy as they are in all the bed time story’s and all the fairytale movies you watch. He loves me. And he loves you, but sometimes we do things to hurt the people we love most and it’s because we love them so much that we end up hurting them.” I never fully understood why she stayed if all he did was hurt her and make her so sad. I left home a few months after I had turned seventeen because after I had gotten home from school my step father was drunk and upset so he was hitting my mom she was blue in the face I was afraid he was going to kill her so I tried to pull him off of her and he had turned around pick me up by the throat and slammed me into the wall. My mom didn’t do anything she just sat there. When I had my managed to get out of his hold I told my mom either leave him or I’d leave her. She chose him. So I moved in with my best friend Hazel. After we graduated high school we got an apartment close to University of Phoenix in South Carolina since we had been accepted for early admission. It wasn’t until I met Jax that I had understood why my mother had stayed for all of the years. In the beginning it was like the fairytales every little girl dreams of. That ended very quickly after we became official. Jax would get so overly jealous, I couldn’t even look or speak to a man without Jax getting mad. He made me quit my job because he said he couldn’t handle not being around me all the time said he would pay for my living expenses. I never thought twice about it. I mean this is what my mom said love was right? Because if he didn’t love me he wouldn’t hurt me. It started with the little things like how I wouldn’t text him immediately after he sent me a text or I had missed his phone call. Then one day at dinner the waiter was a male and he called me sweetheart. Once we had finished eating and returned to the car he had grabbed me by the arms and pushed me into the car door and asked me what the hell that was and why that man called me sweetheart he had asked me if I’ve f****d him or if I was seeing him. It wasn’t until I met Ashton that I realized this was not normal, that this wasn’t okay…That it wasn’t love…
