The Invasion
NASTIA The wait is over. Tomorrow’s the day. It’s finally happening. This was my last night as a bachelorette! I could barely contain my joy. I’m marrying the love of my life. With my best friend, Tate, helping out, tonight is going to be the best night ever. There’ll be booze, cigarettes, food and much f*****g. Hell, there’ll be pretty boys to spice things up. We’d planned this night down to the smallest detail. Nothing could go wrong. As I grabbed my coat, ready to hang out at the tavern, my gaze swept across the house. Twenty years had passed, yet it felt like just yesterday that the Vronik cartel had ripped everything away from me, taking my parents from me. I could almost hear my father’s deep laughter as he tossed me into the air, my mother’s soft humming drifting from the kitchen. The rich aroma of her cooking would have filled the air. But now, the house was silent… too silent. All for what? Because Vronik wanted someone from the Volodymyr family - my family, to be a part of his stupid s*x games? Goddamn it, it didn’t even make sense! Tonight was supposed to be fun. I should have been looking forward to it. I wished they were here. Instead, all that remained was me, standing in this empty house, surrounded by emptiness. One name echoed in my head - Vronik. That bastard took everything from me. One day, I swear, he’d pay. “Let’s go now. We can’t be late,” Tate called from outside, his voice urgent, snapping me out of my reverie. I exhaled sharply. The day was calm. But as I threw on my coat and tugged on my boots, the weight of what was coming started to settle in. It was snowing outside. The strong winds swayed my hair to the side as I rubbed my palms together. Damn cold! But there was a warmth waiting at the tavern, and that was enough to keep me moving forward. As I approached, the tavern seemed quiet. Too quiet. My heart pounded at the thought of no one showing up. I pushed the door open, and the moment I stepped inside, the entire place erupted into chaos. The room came alive with roaring chants and the clinking of beer bottles, all eyes turning to me. They had thrown me a surprise bachelorette party, and I had no idea they were this prepared. The sound of music drowned out the voices in the background as we danced and drank to the good times ahead. But then, everything stopped. The music cut off with a deafening silence. A cold, strange feeling crept up my spine. I froze. I could barely breathe. Then came the scream. A sharp, desperate scream from the outside. My heart sank, pounding in my chest as panic set in. Oh God! This can’t be happening. My pulse throbbed violently as I lay hidden beneath a table. No. Not again. Not tonight! This would ruin everything. “It’s the Vronik cartel! They’ve come to carry away captives,” a man beside me whispered, his voice filled with terror. “It’s about time for their wild games, and they seek participants.” His words trembled as if saying them aloud made them more real. My heart pounded so hard I feared it would give me away. This can’t be true. Screams erupted around me. Guests scrambled for cover. Someone knocked over a chair; another tripped, wailing in terror. The deafening sound of gunfire outside was unlike anything I’d ever heard. Suddenly, a calm set in. The only sound was the rapid breathing of those beside me. Then… boom! The door exploded inward. Masked men stormed the tavern, their gazes sweeping the room as if searching for someone. Then, their eyes locked onto mine, and they came straight for me. A cold chill crawled up my spine. I tried to run. Tried to fight. But before I could even lift a chair in defense, their rough hands seized me. A sharp sting pricked my neck, and something cold flooded my veins. “No…” The word barely left my lips before darkness took over me. As I collapsed, barely conscious, Alex - my fiancé, leaned in, pressed a kiss on my cheek, and whispered, “I’ve made sure you’ll be fine.” His tone was steady. Too steady - amidst the horror, the screams, the chaos. Our wedding dinner was ruined, for God’s sake! And that was all he could say? What sort of fiancé was he? Wait. There was something about his demeanor. He seemed calm. Too calm. Like he knew more than he was letting on. Goosebumps prickled over my skin as my breath slowly steadied and then… darkness. As I awoke, I felt a sharp, searing pain pulse through my skull. My mind felt sluggish, my eyes heavy. Whatever they injected into me had knocked me out. I tried to sit up, but my bare skin rubbed against the floor. How could that be? I touched myself in disbelief - I was naked. Quickly, my hands rushed to cover my breasts and s*x. The room swayed from one side to the other adding to my confusion. Panic surged through me. My pulse hammered. Where am I? What’s happening? I forced myself up, but the world around me tilted violently. I fell back down, my head spinning. A deep, rhythmic crashing echoed around me like waves, slamming against walls. A ship. I was on a ship. My memories came back in fragments. The wedding dinner. The Invaders. Alex. Wait. Where was Alex? My breathing became rapid. I turned, scanning frantically in the poorly lit room. My stomach clenched at what I saw next. Oh God. There they were. All of them. My friends from the tavern - all naked. What’s happening? Their bodies lay across the ship’s floor, knocked out. Just like I had been. Cold terror settled over me. My heart pounded in my ears. The ship was on the move. We were being transported. But to where? And for what? I couldn’t help but wonder: Was the man at the tavern right? Are we actually headed to the Wild Games? I swallowed hard. I had to move. I had to get out. I had to do something. Anything. I came up with a plan and turned to Tate, stretching to wake him up. But then… I froze. I was shocked. Among the prisoners, I spotted something impossible. Someone impossible. Konstantyn. Vronik’s youngest son. The heir to the very people who had captured us. The one I once had a thing for. He wasn’t standing over us as a captor. He wasn’t barking orders. No, he was naked just like the rest of us. God! He looked gorgeous. He sat there looking alluring, his n*****s dark pink and erect. I was about to call out to him, but when I remembered all that I had suffered at the hands of his family, rage burned through me. Was this a trick? A ploy? Was he stationed here to hear our every plan? I crawled towards him. My hands found his throat, and I squeezed. Konstantyn choked, his body bucking as he fought to free himself. He tried to speak, but I only tightened my grip. His lips turned blue. His eyes rolled back. Then… "STOP!" Tate screamed as he dragged me away. "Wait! Let him speak!" Konstantyn rasped, barely able to push the word out. "Listen to me please!" Gasping for breath, Konstantyn stammered, "My father… He… betrayed me too. I was never meant to be here." My pulse thundered in my ears. Lies. And yet… his eyes. They weren’t the eyes of a captor. They were the eyes of a man hated being here. It burned it revenge. “I… I have a way out… a way to make my family pay and end this madness for good,” he whispered before collapsing.
