Chapter Eleven Kathrine got parked at LAX at ten to four and checked the electronic board. Ava’s flight was on time but another twenty minutes passed before she saw Ava striding from the gate, a suitcase rolling along behind and the investment banker from Austin, like the caboose, scurrying a couple of paces after. He was struggling with two suitcases and a wardrobe bag. His beet-red face was upturned and he was speaking at Ava’s back but Ava’s stoney look was focused on the waiting crowd.
