CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Eleven months later… Winter smiled at her pupils. “Okay, kids, that’s it for today. Great work. I mean it, you’re going to knock this Thanksgiving concert out of the park.” Her class, a group of preteens, laughed and clapped. “Instruments away now, lovelies.” She helped them tidy the music room, then said goodbye to each of them as they left the class. Winter glanced at the clock. Just after three-thirty p.m. Usually she would have loved to continue the class, but today was special. Today, she would pick up her three-month-old daughter, Sukie, from the nanny and go straight to her friend’s home for dinner.
