7. MEETING THE CEO

1643 Words
Right Entreprises was one of the biggest companies in New York, if not the biggest. It boasted of Right Hotels which was on the biggest hotels in the city, Right Pharmaceuticals, which dealt with research and the creation of new drugs, that was where Alex worked as a researcher, and Right Aviation. The Romanos came from a long line of money, enough to create something as huge as this in record time. Juan Romano overtook the company from his grandfather Alberto Romano, an Italian man, who was rumoured to be linked to the Mafia. He came to the States with his own father when he was but a child. His father and mother ran a small bed and breakfast. Alberto had big dreams, and he grew the bed and breakfast into Right Hotels. Camila had never met Alberto, Alex said he was a teenager when his great grandfather died, but the man was a perfectionist. Everyone said so, and that was why he was able to do what he did with the hotel and with Right Enterprises. According to Alex, his uncle, Juan Romano, was just like his grandfather, a perfectionist. He liked everything to be done at the perfect time. Juan didn't forgive anything short of perfection. He liked his things done in record time, and he loved orders to be followed, no questions asked. Ordinarily, Camila knew that she would but heads with him. She would definitely ask questions. She was not one to take anything lying down. In this case, however, she respected Juan Romano. Alberto Romano had three children, two sons and a daughter, but he ran the company until he was almost eighty years old, and until Juan turned eighteen. Juan had worked with his grandfather even before he could walk. Juan's parents died in a car accident with his older sister. He was less than a year old at the time, and he was in the company of his grandparents. Juan ended up growing with his grandfather. Camila thought that was the reason he was exactly like the man who built the entire property. Juan worked alongside his grandfather, and they started Right Pharmaceuticals together. Alex bonded with the place, and Camila knew that he wanted that part of Right Enterprises for himself. After Alberto died, Juan opened up Right Aviation, and the entire corporation has been thriving ever since. From the information she got from Alex while they were still dating, and from the Internet, Camila felt she knew all there was to know about Juan Romano. What was left was to meet the billionaire CEO. She walked into the building like she owned it. If there was anything Camila learnt from her mother, Elaine Anderson, it was that if you act like you own it, then you do. Just like she predicted, people greeted her as she entered the office. Camila smiled at the receptionist and took the elevator to the last floor where Juan's office was. She had come to the office last for the interview, then she didn't have any plans of revenge, but she knew that she wanted to work there so she memorised the routes so she wouldn't have to ask any questions on her way. That had worked perfectly. On the elevator ride, she could see that the other people on the ride were eyeing her. They hadn't previously seen her, but it was clear to them that she was important. In the next few minutes, she saw them leave the elevator, one by one, until she was left alone with just one lady. Camila turned to study the red head, and she recognized her. She was the one who interviewed her. She was Juan Romano's first secretary. Camila noted that she was older, in her late twenties, but could be early thirties. She had an aura of maturity about her. She was very pretty with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. She would be more suited to Juan. Camila instantly worried whether she would be competition but then shrugged it off. What she wanted, she would get. "Good morning," Camila said with a smile. It was better to make friends rather than enemies. Juan's secretary smiled back, Camila had a feeling that she did that a lot, smile. "Good morning, Camila. You are the intern right?" She replied with a cherry sounding voice. Camila felt kind of ashamed when she smiled back. She didn't remember her name. "Yes," she said and nodded. "That is good. I am Winifred. You can call me Winnie. You will be working directly with me, and I work to assist the CEO, Juan Romano. I am sure you know that," Winifred, no, Winnie said with a laugh. The way she called Juan's name, it sounded like she thought of him as a troll. So she was competition. Good enough. "I am very thrilled to be working here, with you and Mr Romano. What is he like, though, the CEO?" Camila asked The elevator at that moment. "You will get to know as the day goes by. Now come on," Winnie said, and Camila eagerly followed her while, of course, maintaining composure. "This is the office we will share." The place was huge, with one big desk and two other small ones. There were a range of seats, most probably for visitors, and the office was connected to another by a door. "This is Mr Romano's office," Winnie said, pointing to the door she was curious about. "And this is your desk." Camila looked at the bare table and nodded. She liked it. "Thank you, it is very nice," she said. Winnie took her to the coffee room, the administrative block, showed her around the office in general, and gave her a list of things that she would have to do. "I will train you to answer calls, arrange Mr. Romano's schedule, take minutes at meetings when I will be unavailable, make sure to type, all the proceedings, and basically be anything that the boss needs." Camila nodded at that. It was exactly what she wanted to do, especially the last part. She was sure, though, that Winnie would not want to hear that. Camila was actually excited to be on the job. She would be able to learn directly from Juan Romano on how to be the best business person on the planet. Camila didn't have much interest in business. She just wasn't sure what she was interested in yet, so she was moving around different things before she had settled with studying the course that everyone deemed fit for her, she was the only daughter of a business mongul after all. She was to take over her own father's business. Her father, Richard Anderson, wanted Camila to intern at his company, Anderson Advertising. They worked directly with Right Enterprises. Camila knew that Juan Romano would be one of her father's clients. Camila was not entirely sure she wanted her father's business, but she was going to try and learn the ropes. That was exactly why she applied for the internship. The revenge plans came along, and she had another reason to be there. "Mr. Romano will be here in no time. He is just coming in from Norway, and he has a few meetings coming up from 9am until 4pm," Winnie said. She ran Camila through Juan's schedule really quickly. Camila could not help but cringe at the amount of work she would have to do as she worked with one of the biggest CEOs in the United States. "Speak of the devil," Winifred said underneath her breath. Camila looked up to see a breathtakingly handsome man walk into the office. It was Juan. She knew it from the moment she sensed another presence in the room. Camila didn't have to know Juan to know that he was very powerful. He exuded the type of power that would make grown men s**t their pants. It was in the way he walked. Even the sound his shoes made as they tapped the ground was regal, and what fine shoes they were. He dressed the part. Camila had seen pictures of him all over the Internet. The pictures didn't do him an ounce of justice. That was as much as she could suffice. He was handsome. That wasn't even a word that could describe him enough. It wasn't even just about the looks, but boy, did he have good looks. The dark grey suit that he wore fitted over him perfectly. It was almost like even the cloth was woven for him. His wristwatch, cufflinks, tie, belt, shoe, and socks all screamed quality. He was tall, around six feet, with muscles all in the right places. The smell of his perfume was powerful and so dizzyingly sexy. His hair seemed tussled, yet it complimented the perfection. He had a slight beard that framed his perfect jaw. His nose was broad yet straight, his black eyes seemed alert, not tired as she would have expected them to be, long flight and all. He wore a diamond stud on one ear, it was so small that she didn't see it previously, it was unusual given that everyone else she knew from his family was oh so proper. An act of rebellion maybe. It just made him more enticing. The seduction was so much more appealing than it previously was. Camila was feeling that she would enjoy giving out revenge more than she expected. "Winifred, good morning, my coffee." Juan said in a deep voice that made her belly tingle. He didn't even glance at her and just marched into his office. "Why are you standing there? Follow me," Winifred said, bringing Camila out of her thoughts. She didn't even realize she had been staring at Juan Romano's closed door. My oh my. Revenge would definitely be delicious.
