Damien POV:
I was at dinner with my mother and father and Olivia's seat was empty. My eyes kept flicking to it, wondering where could she be? "How's the chicken dear?" Asked my mother and I smiled, "it's really good mom," she smiled at me but I could see her eyes growing annoyed with how many times my eyes flickered to the door. I was not allowed to bring up Olivia but I so desperately needed to know where she was. This damn mate bond! "Everything alright son?" Asked my father and I smiled and nodded, he still didn't know but even if he did, he would probably be horrible to Olivia because he was never truly fond of her to begin with. I played with my chicken and peas as my mom chatted on to keep the silence at bay. "Where is Olivia?" Asked my father and my eyes snapped up immediately, which my mother took a big notice of. "She is working late on a school project," said my mother as she focused on her mash and peas and mixing them. I knew she was lying because ever since she found out, she has kept Olivia on a tight leash.
I cleared my throat, "I'm tired, may I be excused?" I asked politely and my mother looked relieved, "of course son," said my father as he waved his plate away. "Tomorrow we can discuss the pack's paperwork and finances, there is a lot to teach you now that you are back." Smiled my father softly, I smiled back, "of course dad." I bowed to him and my mother and headed towards the exit as I reached to open the front door, it swung open and there she stood, in my old Avenged Sevenfold tshirt that was messed with slush puppy. Her scent hit me straight up the nose and she froze in the spot. She stared at me with her big chocolate eyes, my mouth had started salivating and it was like my body was on autopilot, my hand had started reaching towards her face and she flinched. Was she scared of me? "Olivia!?" Growled my mother angrily, it broke the trance of the mate bond, I lowered my hand and stepped aside, her eyes followed mine as my mother stormed towards us and pulled her away. My heart was hammering away in my chest, what if she felt it? My wolf wanted more of her scent, right now he was laying on his back and purring at just being in the same room as her.
I watched my mother drag her away but I couldn't make myself leave. I needed to know what was happening. I sneaked into the omega passage way and made my way quietly up to my parent's floor, immediately, I could hear loud voices. "Where were you!?" Interrogated my mother, "I was at school," she said, I could hear Olivia opening and slamming her cupboards, "why do you smell like the earth and why is your hair wet!?" My mother was not letting up, "Olivia!?" Snapped my mother, her voice was straining as she tried to not be too loud. "What!?" Snapped Olivia, "can't you just leave me the f**k alone? You're selling me in three days, can't you just be happy about it and leave me be!?" My heart started pounding again but this time not from any kind of flirty emotion. Selling her!? To whom!? My mouth was filling with saliva and my whole body was shaking with anger and fear. She can't leave! I needed to go in there and stop it!
"You should be more grateful Olivia," said my mother calmly, "you nearly had a very different life once upon a time." What did that mean!? I heard my mother's foot steps approaching and I pressed myself into the shadows as she walked down the stairs in the opposite direction, not suspecting a thing. I heard Olivia sobbing as she slammed her room door and as much as I wanted to comfort her, I knew that I couldn't.
I creeped back the way I came and headed out the back entrance. I sighed as I mulled over everything. Firstly, what did mom mean by Olivia could of had a very different life? I couldn't let that line go and because of it, I couldn't return to the brunette in my room not like I cared anymore. Smelling her scent had turned me off other woman and I don't think these three days were going to be as easy as I imagined. I turned away from the path to the cottage and decided to head to the temple of the Moon Goddess. I would start there and if there were no answers for me there, I would check the records until I found something.
