Ford knew Anthony's words had crushed his last hope of escape, tying his fate irrevocably to Anthony's.
Luckily, the group of subordinates Anthony had assigned to him were trusted allies. After Ford had indirectly saved them from the two-headed snake, they remained relatively obedient.
Even though there was a chance they might encounter the two-headed snake again at the mines, Ford's men didn't complain much. They just silently prayed that Ford wouldn't do anything else to let them down.
Fortunately, Ford had reined in his previously volatile temper and was now behaving exceptionally well.
Near the mining area, perhaps due to the intimidation from Hairy and others, no two-headed snake appeared when Ford and his men returned.
