Chapter 1
It was raining yet again but not going to school wasn't an option not with mom bellowing at me to get up and stop being lazy ... goddamnit high school sucks, with all those cliché rules and cliques where all anyone cares about is climbing up the social ladder it doesn't help that I'm at the bottom of the said ladder. Anyways beggars can't be the choosers I finally got up and dressed in my regular clothes jeans and a hoodie, I don't really care to dress up as it'll only be a waste of time and I'm not sure it'll make a difference anyway I dress. After swiping my lips with some nude lipstick and adding a bit of mascara over my eyelashes I went down to the kitchen where my baby sister Caroline was making cooing sounds " Emily, better eat your breakfast if you don't want to be late for school" said Mom I sighed and sat at the table after pouring some milk in the cereal. "Honey I'm going to be late today as I've taken up another job, the bills are stacking up and I'm not sure just one job will be enough to make ends meet" she worked in the morning as nurse at the local hospital. I placed my spoon on the table and asked after swallowing the bolus in my mouth "Which job did you take up mom? I don't want you working late at night it's not really safe and I'd be worried sick if you're late." "There's no need to worry dear, I'll be just at the Daily Grind working as the barista" I'm not sure it's a good idea she's already so exhausted after returning from the hospital. Once again for the millionth time I'm enraged at my dad who left us to fend for ourselves. I was just about finished eating my breakfast when my phone pinged with a notification buzzfeed 'Bad Boy Quarterback dates the Cheerleader' well hell what's new in that, it's like the regular high school cliché growing up the way I did you get used to not caring about any of the trivial things which usually other privileged kids do care and I'm really thankful to not worry about such bullshit I finished my breakfast and kissed my mother and Caroline goodbye. Caroline will be off to care center when mom goes off to work. I carry my backpack and hurry towards the bus stop. After checking my watch I realize that I'm actually early so I have to wait for the bus to arrive. Being a senior and riding the school bus makes me look pathetic in front of those privileged jerks but I couldn't care less. Finally the bus pulls up and I'm inside. All the seats are taken up by the freshman kids except the ones at the back, I make my way there and sit. It's usually empty cause these are the seats where you hit your head to the roof whenever the bus hits a pothole or obstacle in the road
