Chapter 28When General Queza walked into the conference room, several of her officers at her back, all of them in dress uniform, Finn stood up and began to applaud. The other members of his house, and officers in his entourage joined in at once, and in a moment all the other houses gave each other looks and stood to join the acclaim.
Arien would personally have found that acutely embarrassing, but Queza took it in stride. She didn’t glory in it, but didn’t try to modestly disclaim the applause either. Arien came forward to greet her officially, shaking her hand. As the noise of clapping drowned their words from other ears, Arien leaned close.
“We’ll talk after this briefing.”
Queza smiled, bowed her head. “As soon as this is done, yes.”
