Chapter 27Stanten and Razz arrived at the door to Arien’s quarters in response to a middle of the night summons. It was guarded by a Lakhami soldier. He knocked before they could, and in a moment Arien opened the door, dressed in a robe, the room behind them dark. They groaned and raised a hand to shade their eyes against the bright light of the corridor. “Well, that’s nice,” Stanten said. “Next time I’ll put on lipstick.” “Sorry, Captain,” Arien said. “Come in, both of you. Take a seat.” They did so. And Arien sat too. “Sorry to summon you so late. It’s about Javi.” “You found him?” Razz asked.
