Jessica's words echoed in Olivia's mind as she tried to make sense of what had just happened. She couldn't believe that her best friend had betrayed her like this, that she had been working with Alexander all along. "Why, Jessica?" Olivia asked, tears streaming down her face. "Why would you do this to me?" Jessica looked straight into Olivia's eyes. "You of all people should know better Olivia." Olivia felt sick to her stomach. She couldn't believe that she had been so blind, so naive. She had trusted Jessica with her life, and now that trust had been shattered into a million pieces. As she made her way back to her apartment, Olivia couldn't shake off the feeling of betrayal that had settled deep in her bones. She felt like a fool, like she had been played for a fool by everyone she had trusted. And to make matters worse, she knew that Alexander was watching her every move, waiting for her to slip up so he could pounce. Days passed and Olivia couldn't put the pieces of Jessica’s betrayal together so she decided to confront her Olivia took a deep breath and dialed Jessica's number. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she waited for her supposed friend to answer. "Hello?" Jessica's voice came through the line, cold and distant. "Jessica, it's Olivia. We need to talk." "I don't want to talk to you," Jessica said, her voice dripping with venom. "I think we need to," Olivia said firmly. "Please, can we meet? I want to understand why you did what you did." Jessica let out a bitter laugh. "Why? So you can play the victim again? You ruined my chance at happiness, and I'm not going to let you forget it." "I never meant to hurt you, Jessica. I didn't know that Alexander was interested in me. Please, just meet me so we can talk about this." There was a long pause on the other end of the line before Jessica finally spoke. "Fine. Meet me at the park in an hour." Olivia breathed a sigh of relief. She was grateful that Jessica had agreed to meet her, even if she knew it was unlikely that they would be able to reconcile. When Olivia arrived at the park, she saw Jessica sitting on a bench, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. Olivia approached her cautiously. "Jessica, thank you for meeting me." Jessica didn't respond, instead glaring at Olivia with narrowed eyes. "I want to understand why you did what you did," Olivia said, taking a seat next to her friend. "You already know why," Jessica spat. "You took everything from me. And I won't rest until you pay for it." "Jessica, I didn't take anything from you. You're the one who ruined our friendship and tried to sabotage my life. And now you're sitting here, acting like I'm the one in the wrong." "You don't get it, do you?" Jessica said, her voice rising. "I had a chance at a good life, at happiness, and you ruined it for me. I'll never forgive you for that." Olivia could feel her anger rising, but she forced herself to stay calm. "Jessica, I never meant to hurt you. But I can't keep apologizing for something that wasn't my fault. We were supposed to be friends. Can't we at least try to put this behind us?" Jessica's eyes narrowed even further. "I have no interest in being your friend, Olivia. You're dead to me." And with that, Jessica stood up and stormed off, leaving Olivia sitting alone on the bench, wondering how things had gone so wrong. As she walked out of the park, Olivia's phone rang. It was Alexander. "Olivia, we need to talk. Meet me at my office." Olivia's heart raced. What could Alexander want to talk about? Was he going to end their marriage? What has he done this time? Her heart raced. She arrived at Alexander's office and was immediately ushered into his private conference room. "Olivia, he said giving a very wicked smile and his voice as cold as it can ever be. "What is it?" Olivia asked, her heart pounding in her chest. "Did you really think Jessia was the only one who's been plotting against you? if yes, you must be dumber than I expected and could have even imagined. There's someone else. Someone who's been working behind the scenes to ruin your life. And I know who it is." Olivia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Who else could be behind this? And why? Alexander leaned in and whispered in her ear. Olivia's eyes widened in shock. "No...it can't be." But as Alexander laid out the evidence before her, Olivia knew that he was right. The person who had been working against her was someone she never would have suspected. Olivia's mind raced as she tried to make sense of the information Alexander had just given her. She had trusted Max with everything, and now it seemed like he had been playing her all along. "How could he do this to me?" Olivia said, her voice shaking with anger and disbelief. "Money, revenge, and power can do strange things to people," Alexander replied with a cold smile. Olivia's heart sank as she realized the extent of the game that had been played with her life. She had been nothing but a pawn, and her father, Jessica and Alexander had been pulling the strings all along but now Max was involved?, that was a lot to handle. "I can't believe this," Olivia said, her eyes filling with tears. "Max cannot be involved in this, he might have made a foolish decision betraying me and his unborn child but he won't do this." "He cared about you enough to keep you close," Alexander said. "But he had his agendas and motives, Olivia." He said with a smirk on his face Olivia was silent for a moment, trying to process everything. "What now?" she asked. "Now, we finish what I have always dreamt of," Alexander said with a determined look in his eye. "We take down your father and anyone else who stands in our way." Olivia felt a chill run down her spine. She had always known that Alexander was ruthless, but she had never imagined that he would go this far. "But what about me?" she asked, fear creeping into her voice. "What happens to me?" "You're mine and you’re safe with me," Alexander said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "As long as you stay by my side, and play along you'll be fine." Olivia wasn't sure she believed him, but she knew that she had no other choice. Her life had been turned upside down, and she didn't know who she could trust anymore. As they drove away from the meeting, Olivia couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in her stomach. She knew that things were about to get much more dangerous, and that she was in deeper than she had ever imagined. The limousine pulled up to Alexander's mansion, and he turned to Olivia with a grim expression. "This is just the beginning," he said. "We have a lot of work to do." Olivia's heart sank even further. We?, "What kind of work?" she asked. "Max is my junior brother," Alexander said, his voice cold and calculating. "He got close to you so that I could get close to your family and have my revenge on your father for what he did to my company some years ago." Olivia's eyes widened in shock. "Max is your brother?" she asked. Alexander nodded. "And now that you know the truth about Max, let’s concentrate on making your father pay for what he did" Olivia’s head was spinning, this was a lot to fathom and handle. She had been a pawn in a game of revenge, and now she was being forced to play along. "So what’s Max gonna ge from all these?" she asked, feeling a pang of hatred for her ex-boyfriend. "He'll get rewarded for being a very good boy and brother," Alexander said, laughing. "But right now, we have bigger fish to fry." Olivia knew that she was in too deep to back out now. She had to see this through to the end, no matter what the cost. But as she looked into Alexander's cold, calculating eyes, she couldn't help but wonder if she had just made a deal with the devil. The next day, Olivia woke up with a newfound sense of determination. She was done playing the victim, and it was time to take control of her life. She got dressed and headed straight to Alexander's office. "Alexander, we need to talk," Olivia said as she walked into his office. Alexander looked up from his desk, surprised to see Olivia standing in front of him. "What is it, Olivia? Is there something you need?" "I need a divorce," Olivia said firmly. Alexander's expression darkened. "A divorce? You must be joking. You know what that means, don't you? You'll be left with nothing. Your family will be left in poverty, and you'll have no one to turn to." Olivia stood her ground. "I don't care about the money, Alexander. I can't keep living like this. I can't be a part of your illegal activities any longer." Alexander's voice lowered to a threatening tone. "You have no idea what you're getting yourself into, Olivia. If you leave me, I will come after you. And I won't stop until you're dead." Olivia's heart was pounding as she listened to Alexander's threats. She knew he was capable of doing anything to keep her under his control. "Please, Alexander, just let me go," she pleaded, her voice shaking. But Alexander just laughed, his eyes cold and calculating. "You really think I'm going to let you walk away from all of this? You know too much, Olivia. You're a liability." Olivia felt a chill run down her spine as she realized the severity of her situation. She had to get out of there before it was too late. But before she could even make a move, Alexander called in one of his guards. "Take care of Miss Olivia here," he said, his voice dripping with anger. The guard stepped forward, a cruel grin on his face, and Olivia knew that her life was in danger. But just as the guard was about to grab her, the door burst open and a group of FBI agents rushed in, guns drawn. "Freeze! FBI!" one of them shouted. Alexander's expression turned from one of arrogance to one of shock and panic. "What's the meaning of this?" he demanded. "You're under arrest, Alexander Van Der Meer, for your involvement in organized crime and your illegal activities," the lead agent said, as they handcuffed Alexander and began to read him his rights. Olivia watched in disbelief as Alexander was taken away. She couldn't believe that it was finally over. But as she walked out of the building, her mind was racing with thoughts. What was going to happen next? Was Alexander really going to let this go so easily? Just as she was about to hail a cab, a black SUV pulled up beside her, and the window rolled down. "Get in, Olivia," a familiar voice said. It was Max. But why was he here? And what did he want with her?
