A soft and scared voice responded to Arlo.
"I just looked at you briefly. I didn't even start speaking."
Suddenly Arlo felt his face heating up.
ARLO
Fuck It is Leilah. I can recognise her voice even when I am asleep. When did she wake up? What will she think of me speaking to myself?
"hahaha. She'll think that you're a crazy mutt. Haha." King said as he started laughing like a maniac.
"It's all your fault. And I'm not a mu-" I got cut off by king saying,"Stop talking to me and reply to her. Else she'll think that you are an arrogant person. Don't make a bad impression on her."
I had my back facing her. I swiftly turned towards her and spoke.
"I didn't say that you, sweetheart. I was just talking to the guards on my airpods."
Leilah's face paled looking at the face of the one she spoke to. It was the one who Blyke referred to as the King.
"Uhmm Are you the King? Like the real king?" She asked with a cute face. I couldn't help but smirk at my mate's cuteness. I felt like she was submitting to me which kind of boosted the Alpha male in me.
"Yes, I am. You can call me Arlo." I smiled.
She abruptly stood up. Not knowing how to behave in front of a real life king she spoke with your head bowed down to show respect.
"Oh no I am sorry but I shouldn't call you by your name. A common girl shouldn't call the king by his name." She replied with her head down.
My eyes danced with mischief and I was internally smirking along with King, at her innocence.
"Oh, I didn't know that and if that really is the case, then let me make an exception for you. You can call me by my name. And also, sit down please. You need some rest." I said smiling making sure she's not afraid of me.
"Good going buddy. She likes your sweet talks. I can feel her happy hormones." King said.
She sat down and spoke again, still with her head bowed down.
"Why would you, the King, make an exception for me?"
ARLO
You are my mate sweetheart even though you are a human. I can sense myself getting excited at the sight of you. Now it's time to say something that can make you blush.
"Because, you are the only one who has ever managed to get hurt in my land. Consider that as a reward for your clumsiness."
Hearing that her face paled. She was far from blushing. She was embarrassed.
LEILAH
It wasn't my fault that those wolves were chasing us and I got in their paws. If you weren't the king, I swear would have given you a piece of my mind. But I won't say anything to you. You are way too powerful for that. I won't want you to put me in a dungeon with the wolves as a punishment.
"What? Are you out of your mind? Is that how you speak to your mate? She would hate you for saying that if you continue things like this, I would never get my wolf mate." King yelled inside Arlo's mind.
"I'm sorry. That didn't go as planned, but I'm still trying hard, to get past the fact the she is a human."
"Oh dude just get over it. We have to mate as early as possible for her to get her real strength. She is yet to know what kind of powers she possesses and you behaving like this won't help in any way." King said making Arlo sigh.
"Yeah, it won't help you to get your wolf and by the way, I just stated the fact. She is so clumsy." Arlo said making King roll his eyes.
Just then Leilah stood up but her foot hit the side of his bed. She was about to lose her balance and fall but she was held tight by Arlo. She looked at him with a flushed face.
LEILAH
Damn girl, he must have thought that I did that on purpose for him to hold me. Wow. Great start Leilah. Now he must be happy that I just proved him right about my clumsiness.
Arlo smiled at what she thought as he read her thoughts but didn't want her to know that he did.
"I'm so sorry, but my legs felt numb all of a sudden and I couldn't stan-"
"Be careful, young miss. It's okay. You are safe. That's all that matters. You will always be safe with me."
LEILAH
Oh my. He speaks so well and has strong and firm muscles as well. I can feel his biceps. I wish I could press them to see how hard they are.
Arlo's face got heated and his cheeks turned a bit red. King, howling and jumping in his mind wasn't helping either. He tried his best not to get his hands to touch his ears. He managed to give her a smile, however.
ARLO
If you keep talking like that about me in your mind then I doubt if I'd be able to leave. But I have to as I have some work which can't be done by mind link alone. I need to be there myself.
"I guess you were right about me being a bit clumsy." She awkwardly smiled scratching the back of his neck.
'Time to use your own words and make you blush for real.' Arlo thought to himself.
"No, please. I was just joking. You are not clumsy. It wasn't your fault that those crazy wolves chased you and your friends but I must admit you have given them a good run. When my warriors checked the wolves' pulse on spot, it was sky rocketing."
"Oh thank you King." She blushed.
"Arlo. call me Arlo."
"But, I can't ca-" She got cut off by Arlo speaking.
"You will be punished if you don't. You never know, if I decide to throw you in the dungeons with the wolves for offending me."
He said making Leilah look at him shocked.
"No please, king. I mean, Arlo." She shuttered.
He eyed her cutely while she blushed hard trying to make some eye contact with him. King danced in his mind looking at her flushed face.
"Great job, buddy." King said happily.
"Thanks King. I honestly felt bad when she got that embarrassed face. I would do anything to make it right."
Then Arlo spoke to Leilah.
"I need to go for some important work which needs my presence. If you need anything just, think about me and I'll be right next to you." With that said he went out walking from his room. The moment he was out of her sight, he teleported to his special agents, who were vampires.
