It failed...everything failed

The lights were too bright. Raine couldn’t see clearly. All she could make out were shadows and headlights pointing directly at her. Her hand covered her eyes instinctively, but it didn’t help, at all Then she saw the car door opened and a man stepped out. Even without seeing his face properly, she knew who it was. Lucian. He walked towards her at a steady pace, he wasn't rushing. Just quiet steps on the ground. But the air around him felt heavy. Cold. Unfriendly. Like the atmosphere itself had changed. As he got closer, Raine’s strength gave out. Her knees weakened. And she sat down on the ground without meaning to. Her heart was beating fast. Her mind was spinning. It failed… Everything failed… Tears filled her eyes. She didn’t cry loudly. No sound came out. Just silent tears falling down her face. Lucien stopped in front of her. Looking down. Without warning, he grabbed her arm and pulled her up. Raine let out a small whimper. She was weak. Not pretending anymore. Just exhausted. Lucian held her in place and looked straight into her eyes. His voice was cold. “Did you really think you could escape from me?” He didn’t wait for an answer. “All this time…” he continued, “I’ve been watching you.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “You are clever.” A slight pause. “Just like your father.” Raine’s breath shook slightly. Lucian turned his head slightly. “Marcus!” A man stepped forward immediately. “Put her in the car.” Raine’s eyes widened slightly. “No—please—I don’t know anything—please let me go—” Her voice broke into panic. “I don’t know what you’re talking about! I don’t know him, he's not my father!” But no one listened. She was dragged toward the car. Her resistance was weak now. Not because she stopped trying— But because she was tired. The door closed. The car started moving. Raine sat inside silently at first. Then her thoughts began to flood in. Her father...who didn't regard her as he's daughter...she thought about how her father despised her, she didn't know why and when it started but as long as she remembered her father never loved her, he's favourite had always been her sister...to think he was even the reason why she was in this situation now. She hissed. Then she thought about her Her lovely mother. Her life. Her sister. Everything. Her chest tightened. She wiped her face quietly, trying not to break down completely. No one will come for me… The thought hit her hard. Her father didn’t care. Her sister was far away. Her crush Edward … would not even notice quickly since he was outof the country She felt alone. Completely alone. By the time the car stopped, she had gone quiet. They were inside a large estate. Tall gates. Wide space. Multiple buildings spread across the land like a private world. The main villa stood in front—huge, modern, and elegant. Everything looked expensive. Too perfect. Raine was pulled out of the car. She looked around quickly, trying to memorize everything. But they didn’t let her see much. They guided her forward. Inside the villa, everything was clean and bright. Polished floors. High ceilings. Expensive furniture. A place that looked nothing like a prison. But felt exactly like one. A housekeeper stepped forward quietly and took Lucien’s coat. An older man, calm and silent, moved back upstairs without saying a word. Raine stood there, dirty, tired, still tied. Out of place. Lucian sat down slowly on the couch in front of her he crossed his legs. And stared at her again. His voice came out calm, but firm. “Why did you try to escape?” A pause. “Are you trying to repeat what your father did?” His eyes stayed locked on her. Cold and unmoving. “Tell me,” he said. “What do you really know about him?” And the room went silent at the last question.
