Love in the line of fire

The sun was bright over Viremont International University. Students were leaving the campus in small groups. Some were talking, some were tired, and some walked alone. Raine Aden came out through the main gate with her bag on her shoulder. She wore a simple outfit—a plain white T-shirt tucked into a pair of blue jean trousers. On her feet were simple white sneakers. Her black bagpack was looking slightly worn out from daily use as it hung loosely on one shoulder. She paused at the gate for a moment and looked down the road, before raising her head slightly, letting the sunlight touch her face. The air was hot, but a soft breeze moved through the street, making it a little more comfortable. After a few seconds, she started walking towards the road outside the school gate, it was a long, quiet sloppy road leading into the city. Raine adjusted her bag slightly and put her earphones back in as she continued walking down the slope at a slow pace. There were a few people on the road. Most had already gone home because of the heat, normally people don't walk around by this time of the day because of the hot weather, although...cars passed occasionally, the stores by the side of the road was void of customers. Everything looked normal, Just then a black car appeared at the top of the road. It moved down slowly at first, joining the traffic like any other car but raine didn’t notice it. She kept walking, focused on her music. Just when the car was about to pass her It slowed as it reached her position then it stopped right beside her that was when raine pulled one earphone out and turned her head slightly. Before she could fully assess the situation, the door swung open and a strong hand grabbed her arm and pulled her inside the car forcefully. It happened so fast for her to react as the door closed immediately and the car zoomed off abrutly, To the passers by, it didn’t look like anything strange happened. Nobody was looking at the young girl walking by the road side, the process was just too smooth which was why no one noticed nor stopped, coupled with the fact that there weren't much people on the road and everyone was focused on their business. On the ground near the spot raine had been standing layed her phone along with a black earpiece plugged on it, It lay face up for a second displaying the music app list, then the screen dimmed before it turned off. The car continued down the road and disappeared into the traffic, as the street continued looking normal, like nothing had happened. Inside the black the car, Raine’s back hit the seat as she was forced into the car. Before she could react, someone grabbed her wrists and held them down. “Don’t move.” the voice was low and firm that it made her heart beat faster. “What—what is this? Let me go!” she said struggling to free herself from the hold of the man who didn't even bulge, nobody said anything to her, There were four men inside the car two beside her, one in the front passenger seat and the driver. the two at the back were dressed in black clothes while the other two where putting on a black suit, The one holding her tightened his grip slightly. “Stay still,” he said again as she tried to sit up. She noticed doors were locked, because ofcourse it would be, She could see the outside clearly but she knew it was tinted window so it was useless to make a scene then she began to panic because the car was already moving faster than before. “Where are you taking me?” she asked, her voice not as steady as before. "Who are you?what do you want from me!?." she raised her voice this time, still yet none of them answered her. The man beside her reached into his pocket and brought out a piece of cloth. Raine’s eyes widened. “No—wait..." He covered her mouth with it as she struggled to turn away, tried to push him back, but her strength didn’t match his. Her movements slowed as her visions began to blur and the honks of cars around her became distant, the last thing she saw was the road outside blurry through the tinted window before everything went dark. The car didn't slow down it continued moving through the traffic, blending in like every other car on the road, inside the car one of them picked up a phone to make a call. it rang for a few seconds before the other side picked up. “we got her sir.” he said yet there was no response from the other end and he wasn't expecting one. 'beep beep' the call ended and it was quiet once again inside the as it continue driving further, away into the city.
