Sylvain looked at Tora. Her head still rested in her palms. "Don’t say it." Her voice was quiet. Defeated. "I know. I stuffed up." She exhaled, slow, steady, before finally lifting her gaze to meet his. "Solis did tell me you were weakening the Fayb. I just thought," She paused, a flicker of uncertainty in her expression. "I don’t know. I guess I thought I was clear with how I asked." Her fingers curled slightly, pressing against her skin. Something she did to seize her emotions. "And I wanted to escape, you." The words lingered between them, sharper than she meant them to be. She glanced away, but not quickly enough to miss the slight shift in Sylvain’s expression.
