When the doors opened we stepped out and walked through the garage. The sound of my to large of shoes clicking on the concrete made me feel like a duck with flippers. This is so embarrassing, his scent is literally all over me now.
We walked a little further into the garage. “Alright kitten, put these on.” Ryder handed me a heavy black leather jacket and a matching face mask.
“Why do I need these?”
“The jacket is plated and the mask blocks the wind.” He said with a smile plastered on his face. I looked at him still very much confused, that is until he handed me a helmet.
“Oh no, I don’t think so.” I backed away from him. “There is no way I’m getting on a motorcycle with you.”
“Oh please it’s not the first time you rode with me.” He grinned. He straddled his bike and put his own helmet on. “Come on kitten I won’t bite...again.” He said while patting the back seat. I put the jacket and mask on before yanking the spare helmet out of his hand. I slipped it on over my head and heard Ryder chuckle in my ear. I looked up at him. “Bluetooth kitten, the bike is pretty loud. Come here let me help you.” I took a few small steps closer to him. He gripped the chin guard of my helmet and pulled me closer then lifted my chin so I was looking up. My heart was beating so rapidly. What the heck is happening to me? “Like this baby, the strap has to be tight so it doesn’t slip off.” He fiddled with the strap for a few seconds. I peeked down at him through the visor, then he looked up at me and smiled. I could feel the heat coming from my cheeks. What is happening? He stood back up and patted the top of my helmet “There you go kitten safe and sound.” He swings his leg over the bike and looked at me.
‘Did you forget how to sit down?’ Abby asked
I shook off any intruding thoughts and sat behind him. His cologne gracing my nose, the wild flower and rosewood fragrance dancing in harmony with my senses sending butterflies in my belly.
“Hey kitten are you listening?” Ryder chuckled in my ear. His hand reached behind his back and tugged at my jacket making me lean against his back.
“What are you doing?!” I yelled.
His hand grabbed my hand and placed it on his lower abdomen. “You need to hold on or your gunna fall off.” He said sternly.
“No thanks holding onto my seat is just fine.”
He shrugged and throttled the bike in gear. I yelped and in my own surprised wrapped my arms around his waist. His deep belly laugh filled my ears making a smile form on my own face.

We drove through the garage and into traffic, it was a little chilly outside but felt way more cold due to the wind. I leaned against Ryders back for warmth. Autum has begun, the leaves are changing color and Halloween was right around the corner. The weather has been cold and rainy, and the temperature is continuing to drop. The leather coat is helping me stay warm thankfully but my hands, legs, and feet are blocks of ice.
“Having fun kitten?”
“No.” Was all I stated.
A small chuckle escaped Ryders throat, then he twisted the throttle. I let out a scream from the speed we were now going. Then he twisted the throttle again and pulled the handle bars towards him, the front wheel went up and into the air. I held on as tight as I could to Ryders waist. We went a good 50 yards doing a wheelie, I’m not sure if it was out of terror or genuine fun but I was laughing. For a moment I forgot about the cold air. Was I actually having fun?
Ryder pulled his bike into another parking garage then shut the engine off. He took his helmet off and gave me a shocked look. “You okay kitten?” I didn’t realize my body was shivering from the cold until now. I tried to undo the straps from under my chin but my hands weren’t working correctly. I fiddled with it for a few seconds until Ryders warm hands rested underneath my chin and undid them for me. “I’m so sorry I assumed you couldn’t get cold.” He gave me an apologetic look. He unzipped his jacket and pulled me towards his chest and wrapped his arms around me. “That a little better?”
I wanted to push him away so badly but his body warmth made it so I couldn’t. I pressed my self a little closer and snaked my hands up and under his shirt, just for warmth of course. My finger tips ran along side every ripple of his muscular abdomen, my brain visualizing what they would potentially look like.
‘Damn should have sneaked a peek when he took his shirt off earlier.’ Abby said in frustration.
Realizing what I was doing suddenly, I jerked my hands away from his body and stepped back. “Uhm, thanks... for warming me up.” I said while looking at the ground.
He took my hand in his while his other hand lifted my chin up. “Anything for you kitten.” His smile, so genuine and perfect could melt any girls heart, and for a split second mine too, until I saw his fangs. While in human form they look like normal teeth that are slightly pointed but in demon form they are large and razor sharp. Remembering the mark that was forced into my neck by those same teeth, made my body and brain numb. I’m pretty sure he caught me staring because he lifted my hair away from my neck and leaned into the mark he left, then kissed it.
I can’t tell if I’m a angry at this point or just sad, all I knew is I wanted to cry. “Can we go?” I asked in a small meek tone. He chucked and tugged my hand then started walking. I continued to watch the ground as he lead me where ever it was he was going.
We ended up at a shopping plaza with very expensive looking clothing stores. Most of the brands I couldn’t even pronounce let alone afford. The people buzzing about, shopping bags in hand also looked very elegant. The commotion and smell of the food court and perfume samples reminded me of the day I met Matt. My free hand landed on my chest where the necklace he got me sat underneath my shirt. That day feels so long ago but the memories imbedded into my brain were so vivid.
‘Wow you really loved him.’ Abby said. Confused of what she meant I just shook my head. ‘This Matt guy. He meant a lot to you didn’t he? Your memories of him are really strong. I hope one day we can make memories like that with Ryder.’ She stated in a sheepish tone.
“Okay kitten, let’s get you a wardrobe.” Ryders voice came out of no where and startled me slightly.

I sat down in a chair next to a fitting room, unsure of what I’m supposed to be doing. The last time I went shopping was with Casey, shopping with a guy I hardly know feels wrong. I chuckle a little bit because I realized it feels like I’m cheating on Casey. Ryder walks up to where I’m sitting, “hey your supposed to be picking clothes out.”
I look around the store still sitting in my chair. “I can’t afford anything.” Remembering I gave what was left of my money to the waitress at the pub I realized I really can’t afford anything. I hung my head down thinking how I was supposed to escape Ryder without money.
“I’m paying for it kitten, you don’t have to worry about money anymore, or ever again.” He said with a smile.
“I can’t do that, it’s your money. I’ll have to find a job or something to earn my own.” I got up from my seat and walked over to the check out line. “Excuse me can I get an application?” The cashier handed me a piece of paper that I folded up and stuck in my back pocket, then went back to my chair.
Ryder looked at me slightly confused then with frustration. “Give me that paper.” He said sternly. At first I thought he was joking but the look on his face told a different story. “Give me the application or I’m gunna take it.” He warned.
“What? No, I’m going to fill it out.”
“Is that what you think? I suggest you do as your told before you make a scene.” He said in a low growl.
“I’m not the one making the scene Ryder, you are.”
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the chair. “Ryder what the hell?!” He reached into my pocket and pulled the paper out. I tried to snatch it out of his hand but before I could, it turned to ash in his hand.
“Pick out some clothes, we are leaving soon.” He said in a low tone before walking away. I turned in the opposite direction and started walking. I looked around the abundance of cloths but never picked any up. I looked up towards the exit, Ryder was nowhere in sight. I started walking absentmindedly, then running once I hit the threshold of the store.
‘Where are you going?’ Abby asked with concern in her voice.
The only response I could think of that wasn’t the most obvious was to the bathroom. Why I was running? I couldn’t answer that question all I knew was I needed to get as far away as possible. The longer it took Ryder to catch up the better. I tried to block out Abby in hopes it would block Ryder out too. I ran passed many stores and food stands, I came up to the hallway with the restroom signs with zero plans of stopping, until I felt the pain in my ankles. I winced and my run became a jog, then to a limp. I made the turn down the hallway still blocking Abby out but the pain didn’t let up. I kept trying to put pressure on my foot until I got used to the pain. It wasn’t as bad as what Abby is truly capable of but still bad enough to hinder my escape. I limped into the women’s restroom and locked the door behind me. I took a few deep breaths trying to calm myself down. I focused even harder on blocking Abby out, until the pain was completely gone. I slightly smiled to myself,
‘There is nothing stopping me now.’
