I stare at the reflecting blue ocean. The humid air blow onto my face as different color cargo ships sail away in the distance. I remove my black sock and shoes along with my knee pads and place them in trunk of my Jeep.
I allow my feet to slowly sink into the pricky sun kissed sand. I stand in place for a bit watching the moving tides, listening to the Waves hitting against the rocks at the seaside, seagulls screaming at each other, children, parents and couples filling the atmosphere with laughter as they splash salty water at each other and run around.
As I walk towards the untamed waters I pick up seashells of all shapes and colors and stuffed them into my sports jacket pockets. I do this while avoiding bluebottles or in other words Indo - Pacific Man ó War. Today was not the day I wanted to be stung or poisoned.
Just before I could get to the wet, stiff, but squishy part of the sand I come across a strange looking shell. It had I beautiful black color but when the sun light touched it it had a dark purple coating. It did not have a single dent it was smooth to the touch and does not have any rough edges like it had been carved. I picked it up and moved closer to the waves.
I finally make it to the brown sand that had a hint of chocolate brown to it. I slowly take in the area around me then move into the water allowing it to cover my feet like a wet, cold, lite sheet. As it pulled away it took some sand away with it but then another wave always pushed it back but then pulled it away. This cycle continued non stop.
I felt like I was the only one on the beach. It made sense, its mesmerizing sound and image always allowed my brain to relax a specially after loosing in the knock out rounds in a volleyball tournament. Thoughts were running through my head things I could have done different, how I could have supported my team more.
I was suddenly awaken from my day dream by something or rather someone slapping straight in the shin. I turn around to see a young boy around the age four rubbing his forehead. I bend down to get to his height. My black shorts know submerged in the salty water, but it was okay I had a extra pair of cloths in the car. I raise my right hand and ruffle his dark chocolate curly hair and ask :" Hey munchkin are you okay?"
He stops rubbing his forehead and opened his eye lids revealing innocent soft green eyes to the world. With a wide smile on his face he said :" I am okie but you look like you need a huge. May I give you one?"
He stretches out his small little arms and I embraced his tiny body in a warm hug. My legs were getting sore so still hugging him I picked him up allowing him to rest on my left arm. That's when I noticed he had the same shell I had found not around his neck except this one had a smaragdine. I was about to ask him about it but bit my tongue and instead asked:"Well little one were are your parents?"
" I don't have pawents... But I have a big bwother and he is the bestest in the whole world!
" Well how about we go on a adventure to find him? "
I place my indext finger on his nose making him giggle and nod.
Just as we got out of the now warm calm water I heard a deep male voice shout:"Zephyr!"
Was that the name of the boy I was carrying? I scanned the shore when suddenly Zephyr I assume jumped out of my hand and hurried up the slope of wet sand. I looked in the direction he was running. In the distance there seemed to be a male bolting towards Zephyr.
Out of no where Zephyr some how fell face first. I rushed to his side and picked him up dusting off all the dry sand off his milk white skin and using my left hand jacket sleeve I wiped off the sand from his chubby cheeks.
"Are you okay buddy..." I ask once again picking him up.
"I think it is better if I carry to him so that you don't have another bad fall like that".
He nods and we make our way to his brother.
