Enemy's Side: The Glitch from Another World, Sorrow

Truth be told, it’s so easy to be an introvert. I find it convenient to be one, and I hate mingling with society. Who cares anyway? It’s nice to be independent you know? It truly is convenient… “…hold my hand!” …convenient… “…no, I can’t hold on much longer. Prioritize yourself...” “…don’t spout such nonsense! I won’t let go!” “You… are kind Bryan. You always help me in everything I do. I’m always a burden to you.” “No, you’re not! I am who I am thanks to you! Please, Jessa, don’t you ever let go of my hand!” “…but in this situation right now… I should do so… or else, you can’t hold on to that ledge you know?” …convenient… “…get out of here, you rascal! You’re no longer welcome here! You… you’re the reason why my daughter died!” “I truly am sorry Mr. Gheno…” “Shut up! As if that sorry of yours can bring her back! Get out!” “Wait Gheno! Dear, please stop it. This is too much!” “Leslie! Why are you on his side? He’s the one who killed our daughter!” “Just calm down will you?” “Calm down my ass!” “Bryan, please go out now. My husband is really mad right now.” “…but…” “I know, I know my dear. You want to see her one last time, but as what things are now, even I can’t allow you to see her. It’s for your safety. I don’t want you to be beaten up by my husband.” “I see. If…if you excuse me.” …convenient… “…Bryan, have you heard the news?” “What news?” “Jessa’s family died by accident just this morning...” “What?” …convenient…huh... “Bryan, you awake right now? Let’s have breakfast.” “Okay, coming!” I stretched my body for a bit and went to the kitchen. I noticed that my little brother already made preparations for our meal. Well, it’s only us siblings in this house, so the two of us must stick together. “Hmm? Hey bro, why are you crying? Is something wrong?” “Huh? Crying? No, I didn’t” “Then what are those tears for?” I touched my face and finally realized that I shed some tears. Is this because of that memory again? “Oh, your dish is delicious. I’m overjoyed by this that it made me cry.” “Is that so? Well, I’m glad you like it.” I’m glad he’s dense. “Okay! It’s time for us to depart! Let’s go or else we’ll be late.” “Yeah, yeah… I know.” I’m Bryan Cole, 17 years old. I’m currently a 2nd-year high school student at Trinity Academy. I hate explaining further since it’s a hassle. It’s now up to you readers. “Well, we’re here. Don’t get lost, big bro.” “Between the two of us, most likely it would be you who’ll get lost though.” “Shut up. Bye for now. See you later.” I just waved my hand as my little brother walked to his room. I guess I need to go. I hate to be late on my first day of school. I don’t want my parents to be mad at me. As I walked towards my room, I saw a few couples being lovey-dovey. Man, my blood’s boiling right now. Die normies. Die! “Ouch!” “Ah!” Oh shucks, what a blunder. Due to being focused on cursing those normies, I bumped into a lady. Looking at her appearance, she must be a transferee, since she didn’t wear a uniform. “Sorry.” “No, it’s fine. By the way, I’m Leah --” “Bryan. Bye for now.” Sorry, miss transferee. It’s not that I hate you; I just hate chatting with anyone for too long. “Ah, wait up!” “Why?” “Don’t be stingy. By the way, can I ask where the faculty office is?” Since we’re on the floor where the office is located, I just pointed the direction to where she must head to. No need for words. “Thanks! I hope I can see you again!” “You’re welcome.” As she walks away, I can sense that she’s in a good mood today. She turned around to face me and then she smiled and waved. She then continues to walk towards the office. Now that’s unexpected. “Class A, Class A… there it is”, I mumbled to myself. I entered the room and picked my seat. I hate to be in the spotlight but wanted to look at the scenery from below, so I chose the last seat near the window. I dazed at the students that looked like ants swarming. In my room, it’s becoming noisier by the minute. These folks we’re chatterboxes, they talk and talk and talk, and never realized that their saliva is striking like machine-gun bullets being rapidly fired. Seeing this moment made me wonder… …if only misfortune didn’t befall on Jessa and her family, I think I’m also one of those guys who were happily chattering about random stuff. Yet, I can’t change the past; I can’t bring her back. She’s the reason why I’m able to smile and laugh before, but now, I don’t even know how those things feel. My past still haunts me even in my dreams. Do I deserve to live? ••• “I’m off!” “Take care okay?” My name’s Leah Vergo! I’m 17 years old! Oh, I’m single since birth and am currently living with my aunt. Anyway, this is my first day of school! This is so exciting! I’ll get more friends! I wonder what the academy looks like. I can’t wait to see my new school! Oh wait, can I blend in? I hope my new classmates won’t mind if I don’t still have my uniform. Blah, blah, blah… Whoops, I think the author can’t cope up with my personality. Sorry for this author! Oh wait, I think it’s his fault for giving me this kind of personality. I’ll take my sympathy back author! Tee-hee! “Hey, is that you Leah? Oh, it truly is you!” “Oh hello, Cynthia! Yeah, I just got transferred here.” “Aw, I can’t believe that you did it! I thought you were joking when you told me about it.” “I can’t lie to my super close friend right?” This girl, Cynthia, is my friend for 9 whole years. She’s the best of the best; she excels well in sports. It’s the opposite when it comes to academics though. Now and then, I tried teaching her, but it failed. I guess I can’t be a teacher right? If I become one, that’ll spell trouble to my students. “…hey Leah? Are you listening?” “Oh? Did you say something? Sorry I spaced out!” “Geez, please listen to what I say!” I walked away in the direction he pointed out. I remember his eyes. Those eyes…it feels so nostalgic. I remember now, I’m also like that before. A gloomy person, who doesn’t want to be attached with anyone due to fear, and for that sole reason, stayed away from everybody. I need to cheer him up in some way. What should I do? I know! I turned back to face him and give him my smile and waved at him bidding goodbye. His face is astonished. Well, at least I made him look surprised. I continued my errand and eventually got into the faculty room. “Hello, good morning. I’m a transferee here; the name’s Leah Vergo.” A faculty member approached me and said “Oh, you’re the new kid? I’m Liza Sanchez, your homeroom teacher; pleased to meet you.” Her gentle voice is so soothing. Is she a singer?; Maybe a theater actress? Aw, there are too many questions I want to ask! “Excuse me, what are you squirming about?” “Ah! Sorry, ma’am. I’m pretty fine.” This is so embarrassing! It’ll bring a bad impression on me. Keep it together, me! I don’t want to have a bitter school life! Ah! Author, please help me! (What are you babbling about? I’m just typing here you know.) “Now, Miss Vergo, this is your room. Now, if you’ll excuse me for a bit, I forgot to bring my record book. Please go inside.” “Oh, class A. Thank you, ma’am.” Now, this is it! My neo-school life! I need to boost my confidence. Okay, one, two, three, jump! Stretch to the left; stretch to the right! Finally, let’s have a satisfying slap to the face to wrap things up! I just remembered; his name is…Bryan huh. I hope he’ll be a classmate of mine. I want to befriend him after all. Oh wait, maybe it’s impossible. Wait… Bryan? Something’s odd. I think I know someone named Bryan when I’m still a kid. “…are you okay?” “No, I’m not. Stop bothering me.” “Aw, don’t be like that. It’ll make your face ugly you know? You’re a fine girl after all.” “Huh? Are you a p*****t or something?” “No! Why would I be one? I’m just complimenting you, you know…” “Is that so?” “Yep! Indeed I am!” After that, we saw someone running towards us. A girl as white as snow, wearing a cute dress and a hat, approached the boy beside me and said, “Bryan, I’ve been looking everywhere for you! Let’s go now for another adventure!” “Okay! Let’s go!” “Bryan? Is that your name?” “Yep! Bryan’s my name! What’s yours?” “Uh, my name’s Leah. Say, Bryan, can we see each other again?” “Sure no problem!” he answered with a smile and ran with the girl with their hands holding at each other. That very moment, I felt a warmth inside my chest. For the first time, I smiled. So, this is how you feel when you’re happy. About him, I no longer have any clue about his whereabouts, since he disappeared after a month when I met him. I hope he’s doing fine. By any chance, is Bryan perhaps my childhood --? No, that’s not possible. My childhood friend Bryan is the exact opposite of that gloomy fellow.
