GLITCH

Glitches, the term we give to those abnormal phenomena that keep occurring in various places in the world. This started when there's a peculiar cloud formation appeared in all parts of the world where humans dwell, and then all of the sudden, a light beam shoots out from the center of the mystical Milky Way-like clouds. As we're being bathed by it, a huge timer is being projected in the sky. "What's the countdown for?" most people asked themselves. They soon found out that that countdown is their very lifeline to escape before their first taste of hell began. The reappeared glitch that occurred 50 years ago, the "Cerberus", the first glitch; many people died from its ferocity. Of all places, the three headed hound landed first on my hometown. Everyone in my place, aside from me, perished. When that vicious glitch first appeared, few individuals noticed another thing; they have abilities that they never had before. They obtained power that can help them to possibly survive against all odds. With that, out of 700 people who tried to counter it, only seven of them survived. They were named as the "Seven Miracles". Over time, more and more people adapted to the new atmosphere they're in. Someone also invented this watch than monitored one's status. Rank Leaderboards and various guilds were made, and the schools made some adjustments so that the new generations can fight against the glitches and hopefully survive. I'm currently a high school student, searching for answers. How and why did these things appear in the first place? This is the start of my conquest. ••• *alarm clock ringing Mm… It's morning already; another day to be wasted again. I'm Rylai Lux, 17 years of age. I resembled my late mom; I have black hair and black eyes, an appearance that is now rare to be seen around here after the glitch appearance. My skin is a bit tanned. I have a slender body. Overall, my appearance is just normal. I don't have any features that can awaken a male's lust. This is truly a blessing in disguise. Whew. I picked up the pace, and after my prep, I went to greet the bedridden land lady that helped me so much since I had nowhere to go. She's like a mother to me. When I got in her room, there's another lady in there; she's beautiful, her green hair is well-groomed, she has the body shape and height that can make any p*****t fall in lust. Since she's near the open window, the wind gently made her hair wave as she is sits beside the landowner. I greeted the two with a smile. "Good morning Mrs. Loin and miss…" "You can call me Ferni. You must be the one that's been taking care of my elder sister." She stood up and offered her hand to be shaken by me. I did so, and a smile is on her face. "Ah, it's time for me to go to school. I'll be going now." I waved my hand goodbye as I left them. 15 more minutes before the school bell rings… I think I can make it if I take the short route. Anyway, as a normal person who doesn't have any powers, I have no interest in fighting. I prefer studying the glitch's nature and unveil certain mysteries behind it. I eventually discovered that there are times that a certain glitch can reappear again. Glitches appeared to adapt the literary works of the world; I mean, there's that "Iliad and Odyssey" glitch where harpies, who existed on that literary work, appeared. There are also some instances wherein glitches were folklore, myth or history related. Though I never made my face exposed, I made a server flooded with too many discoveries that were phenomenal to those people who call themselves G-unit, short term for "Glitch Unit" or just "Glint". They say that with my discoveries, they can prepare accordingly. Well, they gave me a lot of money; I used it to improve the boarding house and help the owner. I saved some of it of course. As I continued walking the street, I noticed something strange is happening. "Huh? What's this white space?" I didn't know that taking that route will make my life turn 180 degrees. ••• After Rylai left the owner and her younger sister… "So, you never told her the truth?" Ferni asked her sister who is eating her breakfast. The landlady stopped as Ferni asked. She paused for a brief moment and then answered it with another question. "What truth?" "Oh come on, don't mess with me big sis. I think she deserves to know her real identity. She's not from here; the 'sole survivor' of Lux Village is only a fake memory. Also, we must tell her already; she must know how to release her powers. She's the only shot we have to protect all humans here. After the battle against that god, the remnants of his evil deeds spread across all worlds and dimensions. The earlier she knows, the better it is." "…I can't find a right time for it." "I see. Then should I be the one that'll train her then?" "Please do. I'll leave the rest to you… Ferni Valkyrie." Ferni walks away as she heard those words coming from her big sister Loin. She opens the door but then stops at the midway. She looked at her big sister with a new objective in her mind. That is to make a hero out of Rylai. "Leave the rest to me…goddess Syakila." Syakila the landlady gazed at Ferni's back as she leaves the room.
