“Ain’t that a giant squid?”
“Stupid, that’s not a squid! It’s one of your kind, a Glitch! Can’t you detect the difference between an animal of this world and your kind?”
“I-I know that! You don’t need to tell me about it, stupid!”
“You’re the stupid one here!”
“No, you are!”
Sigh… They seem to have more energy than what I anticipate from them.
A Kraken, a giant octopus, is as large as that Colossal Earth Golem I fought against in Silver Island. It could even destroy the ship we are in with just a whip of one of its tentacles. Of course, in situations like this, people tend to panic, but some were possessed with the spirit of curiosity and were taking their sweet time looking at the Glitch.
Come to think of it, isn’t this the first time I encountered an aquatic Glitch? Throughout my life, I’ve encountered and fought against most land and air-dwelling Glitches.
While I’m idling, a tentacle whip is about to hit the ship when Wenn used her wind powers and made a wind wall, deflecting the attack.
“Hoh? Not bad for a weakling.”
Argh! Reme!
“Heh? What? You want to know what I could do?”
“Bring it on.”
Another tentacle whip was delivered but this time Sven is the one who engaged. He used his [Knight’s Assault] and cut it. The cut part landed on the other side of the boat.
“What are you two doing! We must end it already so that we could continue our venture!”
“Urk. Sorry, Sven.”
Good thing Wenn easily douses her fire after hearing Sven reprimanding them. Reme lowered his head, realizing his foolishness. He then glanced at me and I shook my head in disappointment.
Sorry, Reme. That hostile attitude of yours isn’t tolerable anymore. It’s toxic.
Now then, let’s take a good look at this Kraken’s stats.
KRAKEN Lv. 200
HP: 534 390 / 650 000 MP: 42 100
Strength: 5 430
Dexterity: 3 032
Constitution: 10 410
Intelligence: 310
SKILLS:
[INK/ACTIVE]
- This skill allows the user to release pitch-black ink to blind enemies.
[WHIP/ACTIVE]
- Depends on five percent of Strength and Constitution. A whip will be launched, dealing damage to the target.
[STRANGLE/ACTIVE]
- Depends on ten percent of Strength and Constitution. With enhanced strength, the user will strangle the target.
[INK CANNON/ACTIVE]
- Release a compressed ink in a shape of a cannonball and release it, damaging the target, and cast blind.
[WATER CANNON/ACTIVE]
- Release a pressurized water cannon that could possibly destroy a target, depending on the amount of pressure applied, and knocks back enemies.
[HYDRO ARMOR/PASSIVE]
- An armor that negates burns.
[SLIME ARMOR/PASSIVE]
- An armor that grants resistance against stabs and slashes. This also grants resistance against projectile attacks.
[REGENERATION/PASSIVE]
- Regenerates health points and missing body parts.
Oh, that’s elaborate for some reason.
For Sven to be able to cut through that tentacle despite its [Slime Armor] effects is quite a feat.
However, that [Regeneration] is a pain in the butt.
Just as what the description tells, the giant octopus just regenerates those two missing tentacles and started whipping again, aiming at the ship. Of course, we would never allow that to happen.
Wenn did the same thing as before, all the while Reme and Sven were busy cutting some tentacles that managed to find an opening in Wenn’s defense.
As for me, well… I wanted to help, but Reme stopped me, saying, “We will handle this. Please let us”.
I don’t know, I do think that it’s just him wanting to level up.
The concept of leveling doesn’t apply to me anymore though.
But I guess he just wanted to grow. I do think that Sven and Wenn need it too. Oh well.
“It’s true that your levels aren’t enough if we try and venture on dangerous areas. Even with your Fallen status, I’m still not convinced if you’ll be fine. I also wanted you to get rid of it, the Fallen status of yours.”
“So cruel!”
“Now that’s savage big sis Rylai!”
“I have no objections on what you’re saying about my level, Rylai. You didn’t sugarcoat the tail of it though. That’s hilarious.”
And with that, we’re having good vibes despite every scream of the watchers and the waves rocking the boat thanks to the deflected tentacle strikes.
Suddenly, it stopped whipping its tentacles. Instead, it curled it all and it slowly lifted up, showing its urgh…is that its mouth? There’s an awful lot of teeth it has. A black ball is forming near its mouth and is slowly growing.
That’s it’s [Ink Cannon]!
“What’s that?”
“Is it an attack?”
“Wenn, use your winds to make that wind wall!”
“On it!”
That’s one good plan, Sven.
Hmm? Why did it become a little bit dark?
There are no clouds in the sky. I look above and saw that the star above us was blocked by a certain creature. Huh?
Isn’t it getting larger by the minute?
I stared at it and suddenly something was shown using my [Soul Read], making me jolt, and tasked Wenn to execute something immediately.
We need to get out of here!
“Wenn! Use your wind powers and propel this ship as far as you can!”
“Eh? Ah, okay!”
Wenn spreads her arms wide and with that, I could hear a whooshing sound, and the ship was added with speed. But it’s still slow! It’s not enough to evade the approaching disaster!
I have no choice but to do this!
“Excuse me, pardon me.”
I went towards the front part of the ship (like I know the terminology of a ship so yeah, whatever).
“[Switch: Gravity], [GraviCoil]!”
My plan is to create a pulling force to drag this ship further and then cancel it to avoid unnecessary damages. I did as I planned, and we’re now at a considerable distance. By the time we got to our point, the sky grew darker, enough to make the people notice it.
“What’s happening?”
“There’s supposed to be no clouds! Wait, what’s that!”
“It’s a giant bird!”
That is right, a giant “bird” appeared and caught the Kraken with its talons.
Except that it’s not a bird.
It’s Quetzalcoatl.
