Spawn

I used my great sword and hit its front paw with all my might, but it melted before it could hit. This is incredibly absurd. Should I start using projectile attacks instead? It might do the same thing to my Tech Sword. I absolutely cannot afford to let Rylai's effort in making this marvelous sword be destroyed by a giant burning three-headed dog.

Bearing that in mind, I put some distance away and used my Tech Sword. I lifted it high in the air to hit the Cerberus ' side with my [Knight's Assault] when I noticed something behind the Cerberus.

Dang. What's going on?

That small portal spells bad news. I must report this to Ferni but apparently, she can't leave their fight yet.

Her opponent is someone who uses punches and kicks to push over the enemy. His punches are phenomenal, it could blast away Ferni for a few meters but she recuperates her balance fast and try to hit him. Unfortunately, he evaded it and started barraging Ferni with a flurry of fist attacks.

I know it's improper to watch them while Ferni told me to focus on the Cerberus. But I can't just waste time here!

"Grr..."

What? The Cerberus is moving!

"Tch! Goddamn, woman! Remove your shield and sword so that I can kill you!"

What the hell is this woman? She's pretty calm despite having the disadvantage in this fight. She can't follow my movement speed but for some reason, she could block my attacks with her shield and deflect my air cannons with her sword. She could even change its trajectory and made it so that it hits the Cerberus! This woman is on a whole new level!

"Are you done? It took a while for you to realize that despite the boons you have, you can't defeat me that way."

"Why are you able to block and deflect all of my attacks?"

"I have no intention of spilling the beans to someone who I considered as an enemy."

"Heh. Then so be it."

I enhanced my speed more.

I never had this kind of challenging opponent 'til now. I ricochet around her. From the ground to the air, and kicking the air to go back and land on the ground. If it's speed, I can overwhelm anyone!

"This is the speed I'm so proud of!" I exclaimed as I tried to hit her yet she blocked it once more. I didn't care about being blocked anymore. I want to have fun!

I keep on ricochetting and hitting her simultaneously without rest, and yet she's standing still, doing minimal movement and blocking everything with her shield.

"More, you powerful woman! Give me more fun!"

"I see."

She then raised her sword and pointed it upwards. A mystical light illuminated from the tip of her sword and it slowly veiled the woman.

Is it some form of enhancement? A stats boost perhaps? I'm done with examining her moves. What I want to do is to kill this woman!

"DIE!"

"Such a vulgar being."

A blinding light flashes...

What!? She just disappeared from my sight!

Where is she?

No, it's not that she had disappeared, she is— Waits...what's happening?

It's not just her that's disappearing. My surrounding vanished one by one until only I am the last existence. Damn, my consciousness is fading...

I could only stare at my younger self being adored by my beloved mother. She's the epitome of kindness. Her gentle face is soothing my pitiful soul and even if she's tired from working for hours without proper rest, she showered me with love whenever she could.

"Huh? What the heck are you doing here!? What is going on!"

"Hush down now. Even if you want to beat me to death in this plane, you just can't."

"Then let me test it first!"

I sprinted towards her and punched her in the face but it just phased through. The completely unarmed woman just stared at me and sighed.

"I told you didn't I? It's useless. You are under my spell. This is just an unannounced effect of my skill. I just can't believe that that kind-looking boy is the battle junkie I'm dealing with now."

"Heh, what do you know about my life? You do not know everything whatsoever!"

"That's precisely why I am here. It is sudden, that I can assure you. I have no intention of peeking into your memories."

She turned a blind eye to my murderous glare and instead stared at my mother.

"For you to change into a Fallen... This is something that concerns your mother, am I right?"

"What are you...?"

"Nothing. It's just a hunch of mine. Ah no. This is not a hunch, this is reality. I already peeked deeper than this. Though I can't apologize for I'm not the culprit of your mother's death, I could at least offer my condolences."

"Took you long enough to realize, are you finally awake from daydreaming?"

A sword is chiseled to my chest. It didn't bleed, but I could no longer move no matter how hard I tried.

Being sealed by my hands means one could no longer activate anything. He's resisting my seal with sheer willpower! This isn't good! If I don't remove my sword soon—

He punched me with all his might. I was able to defend myself with my shield but the force was too strong it sent me flying.

I miscalculated!

"Eh? Ferni? Ma'am? Why are you here?"

"Huh? Sven?"

This guy spells bad news in his current state. For him to be able to catapult me to where Sven is...

I looked at Dubes, who's too far from us. However, even in that such a distance between us, he instantly appeared in front of us.

"What the—"

"Get behind me, Sven!"

Dubes launched a single attack aiming at Sven so before anything happens, I activated my own [Full Moho Break] and covered me and Sven with my shield.

His punch is devastating. He was able to punch it with strength equal to a Cerberus' roar. The area around us turned to smithereens and the ground is flattened like some form of an arena.

Ignoring the effects of his powerful punch, I pushed him back with my shield and kicked him away from us.

"Ma'am!"

"Are you alright, Sven?"

"Yes! How about you?"

"I'm feeling a bit numb."

I ain't joking at all. Even with my [Full Moho Break], he was able to penetrate at least a bit of the overall damage. That's how strong this guy was. It's like his [Full Moho Break] is enhancing his strength to the tenth power!

This guy is the embodiment of strength! I sparred against my fellow Valkyrie whose strength is overwhelming, but this guy is on a whole new level!

"GAAAAAAAH!"

He then ran towards and tried to hit me with an ax kick but I used my shield again and lifted it just above me. A loud bang could be heard, and the next thing I knew, I dropped a knee on the ground.

"Are you turning into some kind of savage beast!?"

This strength is overwhelming! If it weren't for my enhanced capabilities thanks to my [Full Moho Break], my durable shield, and that sword that's still on his chest, I probably would have been dead by now. It's not just me, even Sven and the rest of Glints would have their lights out.

"Gaaaah, I will live... I WILL LIVE!"

"Shut up, you dumbass!"

I mustered all my strength and did a roundhouse kick, flinching him for a bit then used my [Shield Bash]. I exerted too much strength to this attack that it'll surely strain my body. I activated my [Valkyrie Mode] as well, to add more effect.

"You've been a pain through and through. Take this! Shield Bash Ether Form: [Valkyrie Shield Oblivion]!"

I never thought I would use this.

My attack hits Dubes and a flash appeared and dissipated just at a moment's notice.

I found myself lying on the ground, exhausted.

Damn it, I could no longer move. What happened to that guy?

"Guh..."

I forced my head to lift even just a little and I saw Dubes adjacent to me. He's also lying on the ground, not moving even an inch just like what I am.

"That was certainly a unique display of battling. I am entertained."

Huh? That voice is...!

I turned my head to the left and saw that guy who got the Blood Eminence Mantle clapping as if he's watching a theatre and applauding for its glamorous performance.

"I thought you left."

"No, no... That won't certainly do. I am but a gentleman, after all."

I looked at the sky and saw a lot of spikes made out of blood aimed at me.

"Sigh, so, is this the end?"

At least I did my best.

I may be immune to any natural causes of death, but not this.

I couldn't even bid farewell to goddess Syakila, who considered me as her sister despite the difference in our status. To my colleagues and friends in AGA, and of course, to Rylai.

"Forgive me, you lot."

"Are those your last words?"

"Nah, last words or not, there is no need for me to tell you everything."

"Ah yes, a stubborn one, I see. Very well, farewell—"

Before he could finish his statement, he jumped away from where he stood. He even lost his concentration and the bloody spikes above me turned back to a liquid and returned to that psycho.

The reason as of why...

"Are you alright, Ferni, ma'am?"

"Where have you been?"

"I was blown away when you used that skill that illuminates a great flash. When I got up you're already lying on the ground. Will you be alright?"

"I wouldn't be if you come in late", I said as I chuckled.

"Heh, is that so? That's sweet, coming from you. Though it would be better if you did that to Rylai instead."

The enemy dashes forth and prepared some bloody spikes in advance to skewer me and Ferni.

This should be this guy's [Blood Impalement], an active skill that creates spikes made out of the blood that could impale any opponent.

I responded by weaving my Tech Sword horizontally and letting out a projectile, not my skill, but my Tech Sword's attack.

There's this one time that Rylai sent me a message notifying me that there's more to the Tech Sword than just a simple hack and s***h tactic.

"Hello, Sven! How are you? I've been journeying to Maiden Island and it'll be a rough journey from now on! I hope you are well. Oh yeah, I think you didn't know about this— whether you use this item skill or not, it's your own decision.

A projectile was launched, neutralizing the spikes.

The gentleman seems surprised and smiled at me. His eyes however aren't.

"It seems that you have grown, young lad."

"..."

"What? Did a cat get your tongue?"

"I have nothing to say to the villain that was once trusted by my grandmother."

"Oh? Are you perhaps acting for revenge? How ungentlemanly of you."

"Says the one who bears a grudge on someone who killed your partner."

"Tch."

Oh? Did he just click his tongue?

"What's the matter? Did a cat get your tongue?"

"I'll have you try and see if you can."

We faced each other and stared eye to eye. The next pace of battle continues.

"Here I go, young lad."

"No need to tell me anything!"

He gallantly hits my sword, then twists his body to do a spinning attack at me after parrying his first strike. It's like he's dancing with a partner, but instead of a lady, he's dancing with his [Blood Sword].

If compared, Miss Ferni's way of the sword is similar to someone soloing a dance on the ice, gliding with elegance. His swordplay, on the other hand, is something straight from a ball held in a large hall of aristocrats.

"Humph!"

"Oh, what power! Befitting to a gentleman, no?"

"If being a gentleman is to become a psychopath like you, then I prefer not to. Also, being a gentleman means you must be gentle, as the name implies! So just shut up!"

I shoved him away and prepared for my next step.

Before he could continue his barrage of attacks, I used one nasty tactic I know after knowing the Tech Sword's capabilities.

"Static Discharge!"

I swing to the empty air and jumped backward as Vlad charges mindlessly.

"Guh!? I'm stunned?"

Here's my chance!

I stomped the ground and charged back. He somehow blocked it by casting [Blood Impalement]. He was repelled to the side, rolling on the ground. The attack I did is something that's not that damaging.

As expected, Vlad just stood, dusted his clothes, and smiled once more.

"My, my...you truly have grown, young lad."

"I don't need to be praised by Fallen."

"Hoh? That's sour."

Static Discharge could only be cast five times. The reason why is that the Tech Sword relies on the energy within it for durability. When cast more than five times, it will permanently affect the durability of the Tech Sword. I must be careful about doing it. Rylai even noted that I need to store it back in my inventory and let it charge for a bit.

"Now, that Static Discharge, is it? It's my first time seeing such a skill. If I may, I shall remind you that this time I won't be caught by it once again."

"Yeah sure... I'm not that dumb to repeat the same thing more than twice."

Vlad touched the ground and from his hand comes a red trail followed by bloody spikes coming straight at me. I tried to sidestep but it went straight to Ferni, who's still recuperating.

"Dang it! [Knight's Assault]!"

"Oh."

My skill intercepted his, stopping its track. That was close.

"You're a bit rushed, aren't you?"

"What are you talking about? I'm just looking for two people."

"Two...people?"

"Yes. Two. I need to find them to extract something."

What is this guy talking about?

"I'm looking for the queen here and her lover."

"The queen? Her lover? What about them?"

"Oh? Don't you know? They're—"

Before he could finish talking, he looked upwards at the sky and acted surprised.

"This is strange. This isn't according to plan. Well, that's all for today, young lad."

"Wait!" I screamed as I dashed towards.

However, as I charged right back at him, he used [Blink] and he's now beside the now unconscious Dubes.

"You're pretty quick."

"It's been my creed as a gentleman", he said while smiling wryly. "I would love to play with you but I need to go."

"Sven, don't let them escape!" Ferni exclaimed as soon as she overheard what Vlad was saying.

"It's too late for that, Miss Ferni. They already got away. That Vlad guy knew how to use [Teleport] without needing any channeling."

Just as I've said, the two of them disappeared without a trace.

"Now, the next enemy would be that Cerberus."

"It is as you say, Sven. Now, if you could...please get the medicine in my G-watch?"

"Medicine? Ah, you can have mine instead."

I showed her the medicine Rylai recommended. As soon as she saw it, she's surprised to see it.

"Hey, isn't that...?"

"It drained my wallet...but it's worth it. I used one of them before and it's effective."

"Rylai influenced you that much huh?"

"W-we better focus the matter at hand! Ah, I need to tell you something—"

"Come on, you can call me Aunt Ferni."

"Please don't tease me!"

"Now that I'm already fine, let's end that Cerberus. There is no more howling of those Infernal Wolves. Let's go and gather with the others. Thankfully, this Cerberus seems to be underdeveloped and less threatening. However, a threat is still a threat."

"Haha, sorry about that Sven. For now, cast three Static Discharges with a distance of ten meters between each one. Hopefully, it'll slow down. I'll go meet the others."

"Yes, ma'am."

Miss Ferni snickers as she sprints away from me.

I'm facing the big bone of those Skeleton Warriors. I'll admit that this isn't good no matter what angle I put my perspective on. I want to rest some more, you know? Goodness me.

I ran towards it as fast as I can and then used my Tech Boots to maneuver in mid-air. I also used my Tech Gloves to propel myself and boost my speed even further.

"Beta!"

Nope. It didn't appear. Don't tell me that it's still on cooldown?

I used my Tech Gloves soon after seeing a shadow cast on me. Pretty sure it's that club this Skeleton General is wielding. Is it using a skill?

I got an idea.

"[Gravity Seizure]!"

"Gwoooooooh..."

I used skill and rendered the Skeleton General immobile for a moment so that I could cast another skill.

"[Abysmal Void]!"

You won't escape!

"Graaaaaaaaahhhh!"

An intense gravitational force swirls above me sucking everything the Skeleton General has and uh, everyone I guess? It even included me. I just pinpointed the skill with its maximum output to include only the giant reanimated skeleton but why am I included!?

As I was warped together with the titan bones, I realized quickly that I was unharmed. I don't know why but at least nothing bad happened.

The skill finally ended from a giant sphere to a pellet, and from that pellet was formed back to my body shape. That was one weird experience.

Wait. Why didn't I do this to those Skeleton Warriors? Meh.

But I guess using it to the giant skeleton comes with a cost.

I could no longer use it until the cooldown count reaches zero. It'll take a month for me to use it again.

I won't rely on that skill too much.

I guess that ends it. I continued walking towards Crystal City, or so what I planned.

I collapsed on the ground. Exhausted, physically and mentally. Dang, this training is hard, Alter.

I'll treat myself to some ice cream after this.

With their morale boosted, they sally forth towards the Glitch.

"Now, I hope that this ends well."

He walked towards me and whispered something that I don't expect.

"Nexus Vanguard is back, as well as Her Majesty, Queen Licht."

"What about Rylai Lux? Is she...?"

He shook his head and said, "Ma'am, Rylai Lux couldn't be found even after retrieving the queen."

"No... No way. I'll go and ask that stupid Nexus!"

"Ma'am please wait!"

"Wait for what, exactly? Huh?"

"Mister Nexus himself said that Rylai is still fighting against an unknown Glitch within the Fallen Blood Crystal. It is also the five-star informant that directed him to get away from there."

It's a stroke of luck that the one who's with me right now has the [Identification] and [Share Link] skills.

He touched my shoulder with his shaking hands. I quickly knew why he is trembling. It's because of a new spawn.

- (Limited effect) When a fatal hit has been received, this skill grants a 70% chance to give the 30% of the user’s sustained damage back to the opponent. The skill now only grants a 50% chance to give the 15% of the users sustained damage.

[Fallen Forge / PASSIVE]

- (Limited effect) Each damage dealt with the bearer of the skill would be granted with extra defense. The defense acquired is lessened.
