CHAPTER 3

1303 Words
I knock on Ramsey’s door and walk in. I feel like I might be exploding soon. Who is this Larry guy to question my competence? Just a governor’s son? So what if he is the governor’s son? So what if he is rich? He is just some spoilt brat who thinks he has a right to step on everyone. He thinks he is special than others. This is the attitude with rich kids. “Any problem?” Ramsey asks propping his elbows on the table. “Yeah. A lot.” I say nodding my head. “What’s up?” “Can someone else deal with Larry Brown?” I ask. “What did he do?” “He is an…” I stop Midway and shake my head. “Never mind.” “An ass?” He asks with a chuckle. “Yes. That’s what I wanted to say then I remembered you are my boss.” I say laughing. “But in real sense I’m like your big brother. You know Gael and I have come from far.” He says with a smile. “Yeah. I do.” “So Larry is an asshole?” “A very big one.” “Why do you think so?” “He questioned my competence. He is abusive, he was all over that office, kept on asking what my name is…ugh! I don’t know where to end.” “Happens with the rich kids. Heard he is very rude to his employees.” “wait, he has a company?” “Yeah. More than one.” “I would hate to be his employee.” “That makes the two of us. What was his problem anyway?” “I can’t tell you that. Not allowed to share information on my clients with anyone.” I give him a friendly smile. “See? That’s why I want you to deal with this one.” “He is hard to deal with. Can someone else take this one? You can do that perfectly.” “You are really serious about this?” “Yeah. He is a dumbass and I might snap at him, which is not so good.” “I will try and help. Will give him a call and see whether he minds changing therapists. If he does, I’m sorry but you will have to continue helping him out.” “I’m going to fast about it.” I say making him laugh. “So how is Gael?” “He is good. Talked to him in the morning.” “You don’t know when he will be back?” “Nope. He hasn’t told me anything. Has he told you?” “Nope. He hasn’t.” he says with a smirk. I raise my eyebrows at him and he chuckles leaning back on his seat. “Gael is lucky to have you.” “And you are lucky to have Gemma. You two are lucky to have each other.” I say with a smile. “Yeah, I will tell you what he says.” “Will see you tomorrow. I have had a long day and I just need to rest. Have a good day Ramsey. Say hi to Gemma for me.” “Good day too Myra. Take care.” I give him one last smile and walk out of his office. ******* I get a call just as I pull into my driveway. I take my phone out of the purse and look at the caller ID. “Hey Quinn?” I say unfastening my seat belt. “Hi Myra darling. Guess what?” “What?” “I’m getting a new car tomorrow?” “Tomorrow? What’s up with your car?” “Nothing. Just have some money to waste.” She says giggling. “Some money to waste? How? You don’t have a good job yet.” “I pulled some strings here and there and I came across some money. I’m getting rid of my old car.” She says chuckling. “How did you come across that money?” I ask widening my eyes at no one “Let’s say it’s a blessing.” “So will you tell me where you got it?” I ask running my fingers on my hair. Quinn is my best friend and I know she is a crazy one. We have been best friends from when we were kids but there are aspects we don’t agree on. Her character sometimes pisses me off but she is still my best friend.  She is the type that will be there for you in case of anything. She is a good friend but I’m always worried that something nasty will happen to her. She knows almost every Hitman around. Those are the types of people she rolls with. When I try warning her, she always tells me to loosen up and I end up minding my own business. I’m worried sick about her though. I have a bad feeling about this. “I won’t tell you because you will bring your holier than thou attitude here.” She says. I run my hands on my face and open my car door. “How much are we talking about?” “six million dollars.” “What? How did you get all that money?” “Told you I’m not telling you anything. I don’t want you to start judging me.” “I don’t judge you Quinn.” I lock the door and walk towards my apartment. I sit on the porch. “You do. It’s good if you don’t know.” “So why don’t you invest it somewhere. You already have a car and it’s almost new.” “I need the model of my dreams. Will get one and we can go for a road trip during the weekend.” “Take care. I’m worried about you.” “You don’t have to worry about me Myra. I have people who have got my back.” “You are talking about Ben?” “Yes. He has my back so I’m safe. I’m here to stay.” “If you say so.” I shrug and take a deep breath. “I might need a shrink soon.” She says laughing. “You are talking to the best.” I smile trying to stay at ease. She is never worried about herself so I think I should trust her but I can’t. She is the reckless type. “I can’t take you. I want the dude that you work with.” “Who? Carmel?” “Nope. Ramsey. I want him to be my therapist.” She says giggling. “Not Ramsey. I will recommend Carmel to you.” “I think Ramsey will handle this one perfectly.” “What are you up to Quinn?” I open the door and walk straight to the bedroom. I pull out my heels and toss them to the floor. “Nothing. Just need a shrink.” She says laughing. “Oops. I have another call. It’s Ben. I have to take this.” “It’s okay. I need to freshen up anyway. We will talk later. Take care.” “Take care too bitch.” She hangs up. I toss my phone on the bed and loosen my ponytail. I strip naked and step into the bathroom thinking about Quinn. She is up to something? How else did she get that money? Was she involved in killing someone? What the hell is she up to? I turn the faucet and let the water fall on my hair trickling down my back. I have problems of my own and she is giving me more stress. Larry Brown is a problem. A pain in the ass and I wonder whether Ramsey has called him. I wonder whether he will take another shrink because he questioned my competence and it hurts like hell. I wonder how often I will be having sessions with him if he doesn’t take another shrink. He is rich and can even afford a session a day. I don’t want to think about all that because it’s hell for me. I would rather think about Quinn. Was she involved in a dirty job? I know Ben very well. He is a Hitman and I shouldn’t have known about that in the first place. Quinn couldn’t keep that from me. Ben doesn’t know I know who he is. If he does, I will be dead. I act normal when I hang out with them. He and Quinn are sort of dating. Or do I call it shag mates? I have never understood what these two have. I will try look for Quinn after work tomorrow. Maybe she will tell me how she got the money. I turn the faucet off and dry myself. I walk back to the room and slip in some shorts and a t-shirt. I style my hair into a messy ponytail and decide to make some coffee. I walk into the kitchen and stop in my tracks. What the hell?
