Aneko walked with Gabrielle on the Bandon beach, popular with tourists from around the world. “I’ve always loved the beach, especially at night. You get to be alone, and everything looks different.” She walked a step behind Gabrielle and smiled.
Gabrielle cooed, “Really, you go to the beach at night? So do I. I love it, too.”
Gabrielle kept looking back and finally said, “What are you doing back there? I know traditional Japanese walk a half step behind the man, but you’re not traditional.” She tilted her head like a dog trying to understand something.
Aneko smirked.
