Chapter 3
A contract proposal
Kiara's POV
Walking back in and looking at him, I felt some sort of inferiority just by standing in his presence.
He seemed to have noticed it because he looked at me, hands wrapped around a cocktail casually as he looked at me.
" What is it now? Spit it out. Are you having second thoughts?" He asked.
I shook my head firmly.
" No of course not. Why did you not tell me though that you have more money than two presidents out together?" I asked him.
He sighed, a small smirk forming on his lips.
" Well I liked the point where you had no idea who I was." He said.
We spent the whole night drinking, me more than him because I was nervous, my stomach churning just at the thought that I will be cheating on my husband for the first time.
The rest of the night went by hazily. I remembered following him into his car and him putting me into the car seat before driving. I knew I slept through the rest of the whole night and when I woke up, I had a pounding migraine and sore feet.
He was no where next to me and I had awoken on a gigantic room on a king sized bed.
The tap was running in the bathroom and as I was still trying to piece my thoughts together, he removed, clad in only a white towel, his body dripping wet and another towel drying his hair.
I closed my eyes back quickly, my heart pounding. Did we really have s*x last night? I did not think so because I was still fully clothed.
" I can see your eyebrows twitching from here." He called out, making my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
" Good morning." I croaked out.
" How do you feel now? You were so drunk yesterday I thought you might be knocked out till afternoon" he said..
" Did we..." I was beginning to say, fearing the response that he would give.
" No. I'm not an animal. That would have just been me taking advantage of you. We can always book that for later, when you are more in your senses" he said.
I nodded as relief washed over me. What was I even thinking last night? I'm nothing like Dylan and the only thing that would put on me is a strain.
He came back to sit close to me on the bed, now dressed in regular pants and a T-shirt.
" I have a proposition to make for you though" he said, all traces of a joke now gone.
Now, under the better lit room, I could see every contour on his face, every drop of sarcasm now dropped.
" What is it?" I asked, my heart beat slowing considerably.
" I have an issue with work. If you knew me then you would remember the rumours being spread about me being into men" he said.
I looked at him and the memory flashed into my head.
He had been involved in a scandal some time last week.
" Are you into men?" I asked him.
"Of course not. But they think I am. So I'm looking to get married to convince them otherwise" he said.
I stared at him for a while, trying to understand what he was saying.
" I don't think I get ..." I was saying but he stopped me.
" I did some ground research about you yesterday and I know your husband is a real douchebag. He took your father's company due to a debt owed and forced you to marry him in pretense that he will give the company back to your dad but he never fully gave your father full control" he said.
My heart ached as I remembered my painful past. How he had betrayed me with his words and treated me like scum the moment we got married.
" I don't want to talk about this. Where are you going with this?" I asked him, my voice firm, my guards up.
" I want to help you get revenge on him. I have enough power to make him squirm and more than enough power to make his company rot under his very eyes little by little. All you have to do is marry me" he said.
I was shocked.
Who was this man and why did he somehow have the worst ways of proposing solutions?
" I already got into a marriage of convience once. It did not quite work out well" I said to him.
" That is why this one is different. A contract will be drafted out. It will be for a duration of two years. You have the right to give your rules and regulations during the time we are married and I'm obligated to follow them.
I will draft out my own rules to suit you and we will have a lawyer present to make it legal. Your choice" he said.
I searched his features to see if he was joking, maybe a hint of a smile. But nothing. He looked dead serious.
" Why....why are you choosing me?" I asked him.
" Because you are just like me. You have a motive that you want to establish. You want to ruin your husband. I can give you the power to do that and all you need to do is play the role of my wife for two years. But again, it's your choice" he said to me.
My head was banging. From the information. From the drinks. I could not think straight.
I got up quickly, my eyes roaming around for my keys.
" I should get going. I don't know if I want to do it yet" I say to him.
He nodded as of understanding the point I stood in.
My car was parked in his vast compound when I finally stepped out.
With great difficulty, I navigated the car into my house, packing it and getting down, limbs sore.
I had b
arely set a foot in when I heard a voice roar.
"And just where do you think you are coming from?!"
