Lucy is utterly exhausted.
For some reason, the last two days have brought in so many customers in the shop there never was a time to mope or think about her broken heart. At night all she wants to do is go to bed and she falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow.
Tonight, though, there is the grand performance that is the highlight and most-awaited event of the summer fair. It will also mark the end of the festivities, so Lucy is hoping Father will allow her to go.
Tomorrow, everyone will be going home and everything will be back to normal and unbelievably boring for another whole year.
