Where am I?

890 Words
There were lot of questions in my mind while Shoba escorted me back to the luxurious room. The place was very modern yet looked so familiar. The puppy followed us along with Paul. "Dolcenea, you were attacked by a wolf last night." Shoba started talking. My mind was everywhere and still trying to figure out who was behind the door when Shoba started speaking. "Yeah I saw a strange creep on my subway exit that's why I took a different route..... And there was this huge..... Wait! What???? Did you just say a 'wolf'?" These people are out of their mind. It was a huge dog. How can there be wolves in the city? Shoba was intently listening. Paul answered the question. "Yes, you were attacked by a wolf. I was out to buy some beer when I found you by the street side. A wolf bite is very dangerous and sometimes venomous too. You could have died, what were you thinking?" I gave him an angry scowl. " I am sorry, I didn't mean to offend you...." He opened his mouth to say something when Shoba interrupted. "Enough! You need rest Dolcenea. We brought you here because the healer here is good with these kind of cases. Once you're fine we will be back. Paul will stay here by the next room, in case you need anything." All my anger faded away. These people are so caring. I am just a mere employee, I can't take favours from them anymore. They did enough by saving me. "Thanks a lot Shoba, but I will be fine. I don't want Paul to be bothered. Thanks a lot you guys, for saving me." I sat on the bed and my shoulder was hurting more now. "Paul will stay. You don't have to worry about anything." Shoba said and I knew there was nothing I can say to change her mind. Paul smiled at me. Just then I remembered, "Hey, where's my phone? I need to inform my roommate." Paul and Shoba looked ta each other. "I beleive, you lost it last night during the attack. Don't worry, we will get you a new one." Lilly will be worried. She might be freaking out now. "Well, my roomie need to know. She'll be worried. Can I borrow your phone Paul?" Paul handed over his phone but there was no network. Damn!! "Don't worry! I will inform her on my way back to cafe!" Shoba rushed out of the room and Paul followed her. I tried to lie down but the pain seemed to be increasing. Suddenly the puppy jumped on to the bed and lied down looking at me. He was very small and was looking at me as if he was feeling sorry for me. This is cute. He came forward and rested his head on my stomach and I could see him doze off. He looked like a small cat, more like a Jaguar cub, shiny black fur and bright green eyes! But he was a puppy, what might be his name? I tried finding his name on his small collar, but the badge was blank. Possibly no one has named him. He woke up when I tried to move him aside. He jumped on my belly and looked at me, tilting his head "wuff, wuff!" "Hey big guy! Seems like you're scolding me for waking you up. I am sorry, I was just trying to move you aside so that I can take a proper position. You see a very bad dog hurted my arms and now I am in deep pain." He looked at me and howled and then shifted his eyes towards my arms, his expression changed. He gave me his cute angry face showing his small sharp teeth. He looked at me again and stepped aside. He pulled a small pillow from the other side of the bed and brought it towards me. I was surprised at the understanding of the small puppy. He was very intelligent and surprisingly compassionate too. "You do understand me well! What's your name?" He looked at me and sat down with his head low and I understood he doesn't have a name. "Okay! What about I give you a name!" Suddenly he jumped up and looked at me expectantly with his tongue out and ears sharp erect. I don't know why but the first name that came out was "Pepper. I'll call you Pepper. Do you like the name, big guy?" He started jumping and rolling over the bed. I do not understand the dog language but I was sure, Pepper liked his new name. "So, where am I Pepper?" He jumped on my lap and and looked at one of the painting hanging on the right side of the window. I tried to get up and moved towards the painting. Pepper followed me. The painting was of some castle on a rocky mountain. The painting looks very old, it's like a century old painting, black and white. What caught my attention was the name of the artist, "Abraam" that's a beautiful name. As soon as I said the name, I could feel cool breeze through the air, the smell of roses again! My pain was gone, all I could feel was an incredible feeling of joy, I closed my eyes and felt like a feather falling slowly to the ground.
