One of a Wolf's greatest weaknesses is a firearm, but not for the reasons they think.
Bullets do not hurt us, or at least not as much as a human, and no, it does not matter if they are silver, gold, iron, or whatever metal it is, it does not change. The bullet itself is not the problem.
The problem is the sound.
An everyday pistol makes a deafening roar when fired, and Wolves with our more developed ears are much more sensitive to sound. It disorients, scares, and confuses us so it is very rare for a Wolf to use it since there is more potential to harm oneself than an enemy.
However, the strange Alpha seems unmoved as he lowers the gun from him and puts it back in his holster after shooting Jamison.
For my part, I am more terrified than a demon.
I can't hear well and that affects my balance. The room seems to not stay still and all I hear are murmurs and muffled voices, frenzied echoing throughout the place. All I know is that I want to get as far away from this deranged as possible and that I want to help Jamison, so I awkwardly get up and run disoriented to where he is lying on the white carpet with a red stain growing from under him. an alarming rate, but still alive.
I am not the only one with him, as several other Betas are trying to help him by examining the wounds he has; one in the chest and the other in the stomach. I see one take off his coat, roll it into a ball and press it against the small hole that bubbles an alarming amount of blood, trying to stop the bleeding. More guards have come through the door thanks to the shots and the room fills with Wolves; some pointing their weapons are part of the deranged guard since we would never use firearms, others those of Rogers ready to transform and destroy whatever comes their way.
Faced with such a scene, I look at Alpha Rogers and he seems to be as disoriented as I am, looking everywhere without fully understanding what is happening.
"Enough" One word. The strange Alpha barely spoke and in a voice so low that I could barely hear him, but his men immediately lowered their weapons on him, and that caused Rogers' guards to calm down, even a little.
Jamison writhes on the ground as pressure is applied to his wounds and his face is disfigured in pain. Overwhelmed, I don't know what to do and my body answers for me in the least helpful way possible, vomiting all over my expensive wool rug.
"Lia" Holding back the retching that threatens to come out again,
I turn in the direction of the calming voice that calls out to me, but when I see that it is the Alpha with his hand extended towards me, I scream in terror and throw myself towards Jamison. Half protecting him, half wishing someone would protect me. It's not until I register the slightly offended and hurt expression on his face that I realize the Alpha didn't have a weapon this time and just seemed to want to help me. I stay where I am, my chest rising and falling rapidly, consumed with terror.
"I won't hurt you," he says in a soft voice as if he's talking to an injured animal and he stretches his hand out to me again. I look at her as if he is a strange being, my body still facing away from Jamison's trying to act as a human shield in case he attacked again.
"You're f*****g sick!" I screamed without measuring my words.
All I could think of was Jamison behind me struggling to breathe, I could hear a collapsed lung and I could only imagine the pain and despair as I felt like he was choking. No wonder this guy must have been going around fooling herds into giving him, women. What sane person in his mind would go with this deranged voluntarily?
He drew back as if my words had caused a physical impact on him. But he soon recovered himself and his face turned furious.
"Are you angry with me when he was the one who hurt you?" He was furious, of that there was no doubt, and yet instead of frightening me that only made me angrier.
"It was an accident! It was nobody's fault. And what kind of crazy person shoots someone for a few scratches?"
He looks away.
"I've had enough." And without warning, he grabs my arm and pulls me into his chest.
"What the hell are you doing? .. You don't even love me! I am nothing but a Delta, a maid! Get yourself a better one to be your slave!"
The Alpha looks at me, for a moment confused and what he does next leaves me speechless.
The madman begins to laugh. At first, it is hardly a smile but in a few seconds, the room falls silent again before the echo of his laughter echoing off the walls.
Good grief, he's crazier than a goat.
I start to back away from him until my back is against the wall. At that moment he looks up and approaches me.
"Do you think I'll let you go simply because you're a Delta?" His long legs shorten the distance between us in a matter of seconds and soon we're only an air apart, my face straightening so I can meet his eyes. Damn, he was even scarier up close, it didn't help that he was so intimidatingly tall.
Think Lia, Think!
"Be ... but he didn't tell you that I was a maid! He lied to you!" In any other situation, having confessed that would have earned me a good beating, after all, I was trying to sink the Alpha, to reveal his lie to save me, but if this succeeded I did not give a damn.
The young Alpha only raised a hand and placed it on my face, this time, I am so terrified that I do nothing to get rid of it.
"I don't give a damn what breed that i***t put you in and soon I'll punish him for that." His thumb made circular movements on my cheek and I fought with all my might not to vomit again. His face is close to mine and my eyes go wide believing that he is going to do something that would make me vomit, but luckily his face has kept a breath away. "You are mine Lia, no matter what"
I can't explain how or why, but I feel the finality of his words to the core of my being.
"No!" I screamed desperately when I felt my last hope fade and I pushed him away from me. "You can't do this!"
Again, that indescribable expression of pain and frustration crossed his face but was quickly replaced by a frightening coldness.
The Alpha just looked at me with a cruel smile on his lips as he slowly approached me, cornering me against the wall.
"I'm going to be very clear with you little one," he said in his deep voice, cupping my chin with his long fingers. "Either you come with me now, or your whole pack dies."
Without waiting for my answer, he grabs my shoulders and pulls me back toward him, holding me next to him with a grip of steel.
"Simon" now he goes to one of his guards "Tell them to have the truck ready ..."
But before he can finish, the doors swing open and he walks in.
Jason.
With his messy hair and his clothes torn in various places, he looks like he's been in a fight, and it makes sense considering he must have fought several guards to get here. His golden eyes land on Jamison in horror, then go to his father, the Alpha still staring at Jamison in shock and completely frozen. And finally, they land on me and the Alpha that holds me.
"Let her go!" He yells and tries to make his way to where we are. I try to get out of the Alpha's arms but I don't succeed and Jason is stopped just a few inches from my outstretched arms.
Alpha Rogers, upon hearing the voice of his son and seeing him imprisoned by those imposing Wolves, seems to wake up from his stupor.
"Hey! This is my son! It is a lack of respect!"
I try to avoid rolling my eyes. Only he would be more concerned with disrespect for his person than with the fact that his son is in danger.
"Guys, take it easy." Young Alpha says. "I want it in one piece." Ignorant of the look of hatred Jason gave him, the Alpha turns to Rogers. And a liar too" He laughs bitterly. "I suppose I should put you in your place"
He looks up again at his guards holding Jason and me tense up in his arms.
"It seems that little Beta is coming with us. Take it while I finish here"
“Jason!” I try again to get to him and Jason manages to escape the guards long enough for our fingers to brush, but he is soon caught and dragged out of the room and out of my sight.
"You can't do this!" Rogers squeals pathetically, it is clear that this Alpha surpasses him both in strength and in number. "This is not part of the deal!"
"The deal included that you kept your word, which you have not done. So, to make sure you behave, I will take your son as collateral" Now he whispers under his breath in a threatening manner." And you better do what you must, or I will return your son to pieces"
And with that, the Alpha and his guards left, taking me with them.
