CHAPTER 1
The sun sets, casting a warm orange glow over the wedding venue, Serena's nerves started to become unbalanced. She smiled brightly, exchanging pleasantries with the guests, but if anyone placed a keen eye on her they could tell that her mind wasn't present at the wedding. Lorenzo, her new husband, beamed with joy, his eyes shining with excitement as he greeted their friends and family. He had always been smitten with Serena, and now that they were finally married, he couldn't wait to start their new life together. As they made their way through the crowd, Lorenzo's hand wrapped tightly around hers, Serena felt uncomfortable from his touch so she pulled away everytime he came close and she gave him a sort of fake smile. She the wedding came to an end and the left the crowd on their way to head home. As they reached the car, a sleek white limousine adorned with flowers and ribbons, Lorenzo opened the door for Serena with a smile on his face but she didn't smile back instead she blankly stepped into the car. He slid in beside her, his face still radiant with happiness, and took her hand in his. "We're finally alone," he whispered, his eyes locked on hers. Serena forced a smile, as though she was trying so hard not to be rude. The limousine pulled away from the curb, Lorenzo turned to Serena, his eyes glowing with affection. He gently pulled closer to her, rubbing his shoulder against her, he reached out to wrap his arms around her, but she subtly shifted away, her body language screaming discomfort. Lorenzo's smile faltered, and he withdrew his arms, noticing the tension in her shoulders; maybe she was just uncomfortable from the stress of the wedding.l. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice softening. Serena forced a smile, trying to brush off the feeling of unease. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired, I guess." Lorenzo nodded understandingly and turned his attention to the window, watching as the rural buildings rolled by. He didn't push the issue, not wanting to make Serena feel more uncomfortable than she already seemed. As they drove, the silence between them grew, with Lorenzo giving her the space she needed, maybe at night more could occur. The limousine glided up the winding driveway, passing beneath a canopy of lush greenery and arriving at the grand estate. The mansion loomed before them, its sleek, modern architecture gleaming in the fading light. The grounds were immaculately manicured, with perfectly trimmed hedges and vibrant flowers adding splashes of color to the lush green lawns. As they stepped out of the limousine, Lorenzo tried to hold Serena's, but she instinctively pulled away. Instead her focus went to the elegance of the mansion, she heard he was doing well, she knew he was reach but she didn't expect him to be this wealthy at his age, this kind of money was only found in generational wealth. "Is everything okay?" Lorenzo asked, his voice low and concerned, pulling her from her lost gaze upon the mansion as they walked in. She nodded her head and slowly stepped into the mansion. Night came and the moment for a newly wedded couple to spend time together, the time to consummate their marriage finally approached. Lorenzo called out to hos newly wedded bride Serena to join him in his bedroom, on her arrival she seemed like a long caged animal, so subdued and shy. He tried to approach her, he tried to make advances towards her but it all went to no avail, nobody said anything about the first night being this way. Soon swrenasy patience became thin and she pushed him away. Lorenzo's eyes locked onto hers, a flicker of unease dancing in their depths. "What is it, Serena?" he asked, Serena took a deep breath, shut her eyes and the words slipped out of her mouth. "I don't love you, Lorenzo. I'm sorry. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I have to be honest with you." The air around them became thick as if making Lorenzo breath stop, His face turned pas as though he had been punched. For a moment, he was silent, his eyes searching hers as if hoping to find something there that would contradict her words. But the truth was plain in her eyes. His eyes widened in confusion as he tried to understand why Serena would alll of a sudden say she didn't love him although she had agreed to marry him. "Why?" he asked, his voice filled with a mixture of hurt and desperation. "What's going on? You said yes, you agreed to marry me... What changed?" Serena's gaze met his, her eyes filled with a deep sadness. "I'm sorry, Lorenzo," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "My heart is still with someone else. I know it's not fair to you, but I have to be honest. I shouldn't have agreed to marry you in the first place…… I…….I …….. had no choice, he requested no dowry and my parents were pressuring p." Lorenzo's face fell, his eyes clouding over with shock and disappointment. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut, his breath knocked out of him. As Serena turned to walk away, Lorenzo's instincts kicked in, and he reached out to stop her. He grasped her hand, holding it tightly, his grip tight but his palm as tender as a baby's. "Wait," he said, his voice firm but filled with desperation. "You can't just leave like this. We need to talk about this." Serena's eyes met his, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, love leaving his soul to her's but her eyes strongly rejected him. Lorenzo's grip on her hand was firm, but not hurtful, as if he was holding on for dear life. "You can't leave me, Serena," he said, his voice low and even. "Think about my reputation, my standing in this Area. If you leave me now, it will be a scandal. People will talk, and my business will suffer." He took a deep breath, the implications continued to pile up in his mind. "Here's what we'll do. You'll stay with me for the next three months, and we'll pretend that everything is fine. We'll put on a show for the world. After that, I'll come up with a believable excuse for why we broke up, and you can leave." Serena's eyes narrowed, her expression calculating. She seemed to be weighing her options, and then she spoke. "I'll do it," she said finally, "but on one condition."
