Chapter FiveA few months had passed, and the morning air became cold and breezy as summer came to an end. Amethyst’s hair had changed to almost blue. She was up early getting ready for her first day of schooling, excited to make new friends and learn how to read and write. She put on her outfit, which was a light blue dress with white sleeves, then grabbed her small blue hat and tied the string under her chin. Slipping on her black shoes, Amethyst left her room. As she marched down the stairs, she overheard Eric mentioning her name. Amethyst strolled down the hallway and stood near the door to listen. She was not able to hear clearly, so she got closer to the door and peeked through the keyhole. Now she was able to see Eric, but not with whom he was speaking.
