Chapter1 New beginnings
Daisy Smith arrived in the new city of New York. She could feel the noise, bright lights, the city was very much crowded than what she was used to.
The smell of freshly baked pastries from a bakery close to the subway whiffed past her nose, making her remember she hadn’t had anything to eat yet.
She quickly got a warm croissant to fill her tummy while reminiscing about her past and how she had to forget about everything and start afresh.
While walking to her new apartment, her mind flashed back to her ex-boyfriend. His charming smile and witty personality were what made her fall for him. He was handsome and sweet to ladies, and she thought she had hit the jackpot with him. Unknown to her that he was a cheating, manipulative and verbally abusive piece of sh*t. The pain of everything was still piercing to her heart, but she promised herself that she had to let go. After all, she has always been alone in this world and that made her a fighter.
As she walked to her new apartment, a small cozy studio house in a nice street, she felt excited. She has always been in love with traveling and planned on exploring new places. She knew this wasn’t going to be any different, and she vowed to make the best out of it.
The city was alive with energy, and she felt a thrill from it. She had always been drawn to the big city of New York and all the fun activities. As she walked, she noticed the buzzing street from the vendors selling hotdogs to designers' knockoffs. She also saw the guitarist performing on the street and how he was tipped by people who gathered around.
As she approached the new building, she felt a sense of pride and accomplishment within her as this was a milestone for her. She couldn’t believe that she had made the decision that spun her whole life around and was about to start living in another city away from the familiarity of her hometown.
Daisy's mind wandered to the past, to the pain and heartbreak she had endured, but before that she thought about her life as an orphan. Growing up as an orphan in Seattle, Daisy learnt to be independent and self-reliant. She picked up part-time jobs to train herself through high school and save up a bit for college. She had been in Seattle all her life, so leaving was a very huge decision for her. She believes she’s going to get the hang of it. After all, she’s been one that seeks the thrill of adventures and exploring new places.
Daisy finally got to her new place and unlocked the door. The smell of a new beginning hit her very strongly. She dropped her bag and padded round the small but cozy studio apartment. She went into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water and gazed outside the window, taking in the breathtaking view of the city.
As she stood there, she felt a sense of peace and relief settling deep inside of her. She knew her journey was going to be filled with lots of twists and obstacles, and it wasn’t going to be easy. This was just the beginning, but she came prepared with a sense of sheer determination and is ready to take on any task.
With a new sense of determination, she turned away from the window and began to unpack her belongings. She was so excited to start a new life and see what the future holds for her. As she worked, she felt a sense of belonging to her new place.
The hours passed quickly and Daisy found herself lost in time while unpacking and arranging her things. She put up pictures which were few because most of her pictures were with her ex-boyfriend and her best friend, and she had to discard everything before moving. Thinking about them now made her heart ache again. It was not easy to forget about the people who were a huge part of your life. She then proceeded to make her bed, and arrange her wardrobe and shoe rack. She has always been a lover of heels, and she has quite a collection that she adores so much. As she worked, she felt happy within, she felt a sense of ownership. This was her place, her own sanctuary.
As the sun began to set casting a golden glow across the city, Daisy took a step back and surveyed her new home. She was finally done setting up her space. She walked over to the kitchen again and opened her fridge, pulling out a bottle of wine she bought earlier that day.she poured herself a glass and sat down on the couch sipping the wine while listening to the soft sounds of music that played from her phone. Which made her feel a sense of relaxation wash over her.
She felt her phone beep , it was from an unknown number asking her where she was and how she should forgive him. She automatically knew it was her cheating ex. She blocked his line and he had resorted to using unknown numbers to text her ,but she'd always continue to ignore him. That was a chapter of her life that had been closed, and she doesn’t plan on revisiting it anytime soon.
Micheal had been a huge part of her life. She met him at a mutuals friend's party when she was 21. He was the life of the party with his charming smile and the sneaky glances he gave her. She was still a sophomore at university and had never been in a relationship. So imagine how she felt.
He walked up to me that night, we spoke and just enjoyed each other’s company.
We were the perfect couple in the outside world, but on the inside, it was something else. She decided to leave when she discovered that he was sleeping with her best friend.
As she sipped the wine Daisy, thoughts about the days ahead clouded her mind. When she was done sipping her wine and felt sleepy, she was fulfilled with how she’d successfully moved in and decided to go to the room and get some rest. She'd think of tomorrow when she was fully rested and prepared for whatever may present itself. She has always been a tough girl and believes she’ll pull through little did she know that her life was about to take a very dramatic twist, one that would challenge her in ways she’d least expected.
