Chapter 28The new doormat has bienvenue – welcome – emblazoned in bright red on it and that isn't the only thing that's changed. When Jacques opens the door to us he's smiling. The smell of fresh baking and coffee fills the hallway and music fills the house.
“Helene is in the kitchen,” he explains as we walk along the corridor to the lounge room. “She's hired Cosette Dupre to work in the agency with Marie and I think it's a much better arrangement. Cosette has twenty years of experience and with Marie's help, she'll soon sort out the business. Marie isn't too happy, she expected to be the manager, but Helene doesn't think she's up to it. It's time for change and Helene knows best.”
