Chapter 21I don't want to rush Patricia when she's been so upset, but I'm anxious for her to finish her coffee so I can drive her home to look for the safe code. All the while we are sitting at Cedric's, people are coming over to ask what has happened. Patricia and Claude are sticking to my story of an accident taking place, but I know it won't be long until the truth comes out. I've paid for the coffees and we are standing ready to leave when an ambulance arrives to remove the body and a whole new wave of enquiries begins.
“I'm sorry, Patricia, Claude,” I say. “But we'll have to leave now. I need the code for the safe and if you're ready Patricia, I can drive you home and collect it at the same time.”
