I intentionally arrived 30 mins late to the venue, I found Rebecca seated with a glass of iced tea in front of her.
Once she set her eyes on me, she didn’t seem pleased that I kept her waiting.
Rebecca has always been the impatient one, if anything bugged her, she made sure to clear it out of her way.
I grew up with her so I knew her like the back of my hand.
I took my seat and asked for exactly what she was having.
Her icy breath grazed the surface of my skin as I reached for the drink presented to me.
“I want you to quit your job” she commanded.
She must have lost to Gaston in a fight again, because if she had her way, she would have fired me the moment she saw me.
“I can’t do that” I answered and her face grew cold.
She became quiet before she reached in her purse and pulled and envelope.
She dropped it on the table and slid it towards me.
“I know women like you, you love to reap where you didn’t sow.
It’s money that you want right, there is enough money in there for you to not show your face to my husband ever again”
I felt the need to laugh in her face, She had not sowed anything in her damn life.
She leached off me growing up and just when I was getting the reward for my hard work, she snatched that away.
I worked hard for everything that she has now, the title, the position, the family that she has.
Growing up as an orphan, I let her stay with me after my parents died, I considered her as my sister. She was the last person I ever thought would betray me but she did.
I grabbed the envelope and looked at it, then dropped it back on the table, tossed it back to her.
“Are you telling me 10million dollars is not enough for you to disappear” she stated, obviously annoyed. A slow vein popping out of her head.
“That’s more than enough money you could ever make in a year. Are you trying to rip me off” she yelled, causing heads to turn towards her.
I was killed for 500 million dollars, you do the maths, the money was nothing compared to what I have in mind for her and Gaston.
“I’m not interested” I crossed my leg and let out a smile.
She grew more pissed off, then reached into her purse and grabbed her Cheque book, opened it and ripped out a part.
“This is an open cheque, you can put any amount you want. But I want you disappear and never show your face till you die” she suggested.
“I’m not interested in that too” I folded my arms and watched fumes sprout of her ears. She was losing control over the situation and there were just two things left to do.
I reached my tea when she forcefully yanked my hand,
“Do you think that I will let you slide off easily, everyone has dirty secrets and once I am done with you, you would wish you had taken my offer.
I will pull out all your dirty laundry and make you wish for death for ever thinking of crossing me” the fierce look in her eyes was one of the reason why I agreed to meet her.
The same look she had on her face when she watched me burn.
I drew my hand out of her grasp, “Speaking of dirty laundry, I happened to do my homework on you and guess what I found out”
My words made her straighten up, her eyes narrowed in fear of what I was about to say.
“It’s been a popular gossip at work” I paused, “How you got married to your husband”
I could see the fear in her eyes when I began speaking, “You started off as his secretary too, I also found out that he had a fiance at the time”
Her fingers wrapped around the table so tight they could break.
“Those are lies” she swallowed hard, then grabbed her drink and flushed it down her throat.
“Look, I will give you the benefit of doubt” I leaned closer, “Your husband is not my type.”
It’s one thing to be found in an intimate scene with your husband and it’s another to claim he wasn’t your type despite what you had seen.
I had crossed both lines for Rebecca, and she was fuming.
I watched her try to calm herself down, but it wasn’t working. I loved that I could easily get on her nerves.
With my presence, she knew her time was up and judging from the relationship she had with Gaston, it wouldn’t take long.
I grabbed my bag and sprung to my feet, “it was nice meeting you, Mrs Gomez” I gave her a cute smile and turned to leave when she grabbed my hand.
“Don’t you dare think that this is over, I will not sit back and let you take what belongs to me. I don’t care what I have to do to take you out but I will. You wouldn’t even be seen in a foot distance to my husband. You will lose your job and everything you ever own, that is my promise to you” She cursed at me.
I shrugged my shoulders, hoping to see how all that would pan out, just then I felt a vibration in my bag.
I pulled out my phone and it was a call from Gaston.
I made sure she had a good look at who was calling then I picked it.
“Yes Sir, I will be there immediately” I responded with the sweetest voice ever then ended the call.
“He needs me” I teased, I meant that in the nastiest way possible, just so that I could put silly thought in her head.
I ripped my arm off her grasp and walked away smiling.
