When I walked out of his office, Ryker stayed behind me like a silent shadow all the way to the first floor. He didn’t come over to where Cora was waiting near the couches, but I could feel his eyes on me the entire time. Even after I left the building, it felt like his gaze was still burning into my back.
“I’m guessing you didn’t end up on the floor with the rentals and job listings,” Cora whispered as we hurried down the stairs.
“Not unless that’s somehow part of the CEO’s job description,” I replied dryly.
Cora’s shoulders sagged as she let out a sigh.
“I’m really sorry. It’s hard to avoid your pack in Shadow Crest, and I thought it would be easier if you dealt with them directly. But I never expected you’d get pulled straight into Alpha Ryker’s office.”
