Jace's POV "Jack it's me" I said into the phone "Jace, what's up?" He asked "I need your help" I told him My dad passed away a few months ago and left me his companies. He left only one of them to my step brother - Mark. He was so selfish, the houses and company my dad left for him wasn't enough. He wanted it all. And the only way he could do that was to get rid of me. Believe me, I'm not an easy man to deal with. But this isn't something I can handle myself. This isn't the first time Mark had tried to kill me. He has tried up to five times. I know he's getting tired of his minions failing him and he'll try his best to get the job done this time around. The only thing that keeps me a little safe is the fact that he doesn't know that I know about his plans. His mum has been my second mum after my birth mum passed. She overheard Mark talking about it in the house. She called me and told me. Even though Mark was her son, she never liked the idea of taking part in people's downfall much less being the brains of it. She told me the things he planned to do and when it would happen, that's why I've been able to escape his traps this long but no more. I needed protection. Jack is a friend of the family. His father and my father were friends. Jack was in the army before he became a cop and just recently, the captain in his precinct. Now I need his help to get rid of the threat. "Wow" he said after I told him "You could have told me when it started" "I thought he'd let it go and move on" I said "But he's one stubborn asshole" Jack snorted "Okay. I'd have loved to be the one to do the job myself but I'm on a protection program for someone really important. I have to take care of everything from down here" "More important than me?" I asked "All I can say to answer that is 'ex-military'. Does that sound important?" I sighed "But...I can give the job to one of the best agents I know" he said "I don't need an agent. I need a body guard" "Believe me. This agent is the best...ex-army" he said proudly I trusted Jack. He wouldn't hand my life over to some petite, inexperienced scumbag. "Okay. Fine. Just keep it discrete" I told him "I don't want anyone to know about this" "You got it." He said "Not even this agent should know about it." I said "You can come up with something that won't disclose my problem" "Its fine, Jace" "Okay" I said We hung up. This was gonna be fun. I hated bodyguards because I always believed I was my own body guard. Jack and I knew each other way before our fathers introduced us to each other. We met in military school. But I dropped out towards the end because dad was sick and he needed someone to handle the companies. So, I had to quit and go back home. My step mother and brother were there when I got back. I didn't want another mother but I saw the way she cared for dad, so I decided to get to know her and she became my confidant. So, let me rephrase something. Mark's minions are no more, no less than plain assassins. So basically, I'm hunted down by assassins. I just need someone to have my back. It'll probably have to be this so-called agent. I just hope he's good.
