Three days later, Argolicus still had no tactics in place. He’d visited the harbor with Gregorius and watched the ships load and unload. Nikolaos had his martial practice sessions back each morning and reading in the evening. He’d heard nothing from Proba or Ebrimuth. Most of all, he had no idea how to look for Quintinus’ murderer.
Unlike a magistrate like Vespasianus, he had no authority. People would have to meet with him out of their good will. And, that wasn’t the biggest challenge. He didn’t know where to go or whom to meet to find more.
He looked at his list: Donicus, Pennus, Macro, Martina, Vespasianus, Sura, Fabia, Proba. He was about to cross out Donicus’ name and stopped.
