Chapter 1: Lucifer’s Perch High
Tanner, Jackson, and Brett walked through the halls of Lucifer’s Perch High, laughing and joking. They all wanted girlfriends, but Brett had his eyes on Angelina, the cheer captain and head of the student council. He was staring at her, his eyes drifting in places they probably shouldn’t. Tanner snapped his fingers in front of Brett’s face, snapping him to reality. “Starin’ at Angelina again, loverboy?” He teased. Brett rolled his eyes, looking at the ground. “Oh shut up, Tan. It’s not my fault. She’s hot, okay? Besides, I’m only interested for her looks.” Jackson glared at Brett, his golden eyes scorching. “That’s low, man. She’s a sweet girl. Leave her alone.” Brett scoffed, smirking. “Oh please. We all know you’re gay anyway, why do you care?” Jackson scoffed and walked away, heading out the doors with a slam. “What’s his problem, Tan?” Brett asked. Tanner glared at him. “You didn’t have to say that, dude. That was really f****d up..” He walked away, leaving Brett alone and mad. “Some friends they are,” he muttered, annoyed. He couldn’t see he was wrong, as per usual. He was a real narcissist
Meanwhile, Jackson sat at home, watching TV with his feet up. He could hear his mother’s footsteps. Oh no. His mother, Alice, approached, holding a picture of Tyler, the captain of the swim team. “Jackson Harris Vertigo! What is this doing in your room?!” She yelled. Jackson sighed, pinching the bridge of his slender nose. “Mother, why does it matter? I like boys, so what?” He snapped back. He was struck in the face with his mother’s hand. “You do NOT talk back to me! I will NOT have this in my house! You’re kicked out!” She yelled at him. He finally snapped, yelling as he grabbed his things. “FINE! I’M SICK OF THIS HOUSE ANYWAY!” He slammed the door and grabbed his phone, calling Tyler and speaking. “Hey. Can I come over? My ma kicked me out, I ain’t got anywhere else to go.”
