"Little girl, you're awake!" the nurse exclaimed, her voice filled with warmth and concern. "Mmm... What happened?" Chelsea rasped, her voice weak from the ordeal. The nurse reached for a glass of water on the bedside table and helped Chelsea take a sip. "You were caught in the fire. It was a close call, but the firefighters managed to rescue you in time." Chelsea's eyes widened as the memories flooded back. The inferno, the smoke, and the fear. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. As she hesitantly pushed open the doors, she was greeted by a flurry of activity and a bustling atmosphere filled with laughter and chatter. Amidst the commotion, Lora the kind assistant, noticed Chelsea's slightly anxious expression and approached her immediately. "Hello there! Welcome to the orphanage. I'm Lora and I'm here to help you settle in." Chelsea's eyes darkened as she met Lora's warm and friendly gaze. "Hi, Lora. I'm Chelsea. It's... nice to meet you." said Chelsea out of politeness. Lora smiled brightly, her presence instantly putting Chelsea in discomfort. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Chelsea. Let's get your things settled, shall we?" Together, they walked towards the reception area where Lora handed Chelsea some paperwork to fill out. As Chelsea scribbled down her information, Lora made small talk to help ease any nerves. Chelsea looked up, a mix of emotions crossing her face. "It's a little overwhelming, to be honest. But I'm hoping to find a sense of belonging here." Lora nodded understandingly. "I can imagine. The staff and kids here are all wonderful. You'll fit right in, I'm sure of it. We're like one big happy family." The thought of finding a family made Chelsea's heart swell with hope. She finished the paperwork and handed it back to Lora, who led her to a cozy room filled with colorful beds and personal belongings. "This will be your room, Chelsea," Lora explained, gesturing towards an empty bed. "You can make it feel like home by adding your personal touch." Chelsea glanced around, feeling a glimmer of irritation at the thought of giving her a colorful room as she only liked dark shade colors "Thank you, Lora. I appreciate all your help." she thanked her not looking bad for not liking the room. Lora smiled warmly, her eyes filled with genuine care. "Anytime, Chelsea. Remember, I'm here to assist you and make your transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or need anything, don't hesitate to ask." "Yes, thanks" Chelsea answered politely as she thought 'I better do with what I've got be the way I won't be staying here for long either'. Sorting out her clothes from the suitcase she laid off the soft and comfortable bed pondering on her next move, taking out the necklace from her pocket she clenched it tightly promising to find the other missing piece despite not knowing its location. *********************** "Esteven, where did you find this chain it's pretty may I have it?" A blonde-haired girl asked sheepishly hoping to get a reaction for the man. "No!!.." his response was cold and straightforward as he rejected her without any reconsideration, as he stared at the half-heart chain necklace in his hand.
