When Elara Wren inherits her late aunt's secluded cabin in the mysterious town of Black Hollow, she plans to stay just long enough to sort through her aunt's belongings before returning to the city. But the dense forests surrounding the town hold secrets far older than Elara can imagine-and they're tied to her family in ways she's never known. A chance encounter with Azerin Wolfson, her childhood friend and the brooding heir to a cursed legacy, changes everything. Azerin knows the truth: the Wolfson family's wolf-like transformations, once a blessing granted to protect Black Hollow, have twisted into a curse that grows darker with each generation. The land demands blood, and the curse ties the Wolfsons to it-and now, it's pulling Elara into its grasp. As Elara begins to uncover her aunt's cryptic journals and the eerie history of Black Hollow, she discovers her own hidden connection to the curse. With Azerin by her side, she must navigate a world of primal magic, forbidden love, and an ancient forest spirit that will stop at nothing to keep its grip on the town. But as the curse tightens its hold, Elara must decide: will she embrace her growing powers to help Azerin break the curse, or will she flee back to the safety of the city, leaving him-and the town-to their fate? Dark secrets, impossible choices, and a forbidden romance collide in Moon Bounded, a haunting tale of love, legacy, and the price of freedom.

Chapter 1 Azerin POV
The night in Black Hollow always carried a weight, a heaviness that seemed to sink into my bones and tighten my chest. The forest beyond the town whispered with secrets, its shadows alive with the echoes of forgotten oaths. Standing at the edge of the woods, I could feel the pulse of the land beneath my feet, thrumming in time with the distant howl that broke the silence. I wasn't sure if I was the hunter or the hunted—only that I was both. The curse tethered me to this place, to this moon, and as its pale light spilled over the treetops like silver fire, I felt it rising in me again. The wolf. The shadow of a blessing turned curse, clawing at the edges of who I was. I clenched my fists at my sides, trying to will the shift back into the darkness where it belonged, but it was futile. The moon's pull was inevitable, like the tide, relentless and unforgiving. The air smelled of pine and damp earth, but underneath it all, there was something else—a faint tang of something...wrong. The air itself seemed to hum with it, as if the forest knew what I was about to become. I'd always known the change was coming. It had been with me for as long as I could remember. But this time... it felt different. Darker. The instinct, the hunger, burned deeper than before. Every month it was the same, and yet each time, I feared it would be the last. That one night, I'd lose myself entirely, become nothing more than the beast that prowled these woods. I turned my gaze back toward the town. Black Hollow, my home. My prison. The place where my bloodline had long ago sealed its fate. Somewhere out there, the people still slept, unaware of the battle raging inside me. But they weren't safe. They never had been, not really. I couldn't keep pretending that the curse was a gift. I should have left long ago. But there was nowhere to go. Not while the moon still called me. I stepped forward, feeling the familiar tug of the wolf beneath my skin, and forced myself to breathe slowly, deeply. The transformation was always there, like a beast waiting in the shadows, patient and relentless. My body had long ago learned the rhythm of it—how to fight the instinct to give in, how to ride out the wave of fury that threatened to overwhelm me with each passing hour. But tonight, I could feel it stronger, a pulse in my veins that refused to be ignored. My fingers twitched, nails lengthening, the claws already forming beneath the surface. I fought it back, but there was a part of me—some primal part—that welcomed the change. It was power, untamed and pure. The forest called to me, its roots and branches whispering like an old friend, urging me to embrace what I was meant to be. But I couldn't. Not again. Not after everything I'd already lost. My eyes flicked to the town once more, a glimmer of light spilling from the windows of the cabins and houses. Black Hollow, the only place that ever felt like home, yet it was suffocating me. The people here were safe, yes, but not because of me. The curse that had been passed down through my bloodline had once made the Wolfsons guardians of the town, protectors of a kind. But now? Now I was its prisoner. Bound to the land, to the moon, to the fury I couldn't always control. The howl from the woods broke through my thoughts, closer now. Louder. There was something different in it this time—a warning, perhaps. My heartbeat quickened as the voice of the forest pressed harder against my chest. I was no longer just the heir to the Wolfson curse. I was something more. Something that could either save or destroy Black Hollow, depending on how the night unfolded. I glanced back at the forest, the weight of it pressing down on me like a storm. This wasn't just another night. It couldn't be. I couldn't let it be. I took a step forward, my feet crunching on the damp earth, and another, the tension in my muscles stretching taut as if the forest itself were holding its breath. The howl echoed once more, now unmistakably close, sending a shiver through my spine. My instincts screamed at me to turn and run, to vanish into the safety of the trees where I could let the wolf take over and lose myself in its primal freedom. But there was a reason I was still standing here, still trying to control this cursed blood running through my veins. I didn't know why I stayed. Maybe it was hope, or maybe it was stubbornness. But something told me that tonight, everything would change. I couldn't keep pretending the curse was just a part of me that I could manage, or that I was simply waiting for the next full moon to come and go. The town was under threat again, and I had no idea from where, or why, but I could feel it like a storm building on the horizon. The whisper of the trees grew louder, filling my mind with half-formed thoughts—fragments of memories, of old promises made by ancestors long gone. The Wolfson name had been forged in blood and sacrifice, each generation tasked with guarding Black Hollow from whatever lurked beyond the veil. But somewhere along the way, the power that had been a blessing had twisted into a curse. The very thing that had once protected the town was now a danger to it. I couldn't be the one to destroy it, could I? As the wolf pressed harder, threatening to claw its way out of my skin, I took a deep breath. There had to be a way to stop this madness. I had to find it before the beast took over completely. And then, in the distance, something shifted in the air—faint, but undeniable. The woods seemed to shift with it, the temperature dropping a fraction, the wind carrying a strange, almost familiar scent. I knew it well. Too well. Elara. The thought sent a jolt through me, sharper than any pain the transformation ever brought. She shouldn't be here. Not tonight. Not when the curse was so close to breaking me. Her presence, the pull I felt whenever she was near, wasn't something I could ignore. She had no idea what she was walking into, no understanding of what Black Hollow had hidden in its depths, or what I was struggling to keep contained. My pulse quickened, but not just from the change. She was here. And for the first time in years, I didn't know if I should stay or run.
