Clearing her throat, Janet replied.
“My parents are well thank you Mrs Cassandra but am yet to be engaged”. Janet’s tone were flat.
Cassandra swallows hard.
“Birds of a feather”…she murmured.
“Enough of the conversations, let’s all enjoy the meal”. Denise chips in.
Denise contribution to Cassandra talks are like a relieve drugs to the headache statement.
“When the time is right, they will bring home our heart desire leave them alone for now Dear”.
The girls giggled happily. They all ate their meals in silent.
After much appeals from Chloe’s brothers and Father. Cassandra deletes the dating app. Participants of the group seize to ring Chloe. Janet returns back to her home.
A year has passed, Chloe is yet to bring home a suitor. Cassandra starts setting up date for her with her friends sons. She goes to some just to please her mother and decline some.
“With the way you have fancy work. I hope you get a fiancé soon. You really need to give someone a chance. You are not getting younger Chloe”.
“You should have your kids when you are strong. Taking care of your kids when you are still versatile is the best my child. I won’t lead you astray” Cassandra spoke gently to her child.
Months passed by, Janet sent an invite with a letter to Chloe. It reads
“Dear Chloe, after many effort from Mom. My aunty has match make me with someone. We are in love now. Have finally seen a man of my choice. I will be walking down the aisle third of next month. Do me the honor of been my chief bridesmaid. See you soonest. Love you. Janet”.
Immediately after she drop the letter and the invite. She ring her friend.
“Hello Janet. I just went through your letter and invite. Am so happy for you. You are now free from everyday nagging”.
Will starts to pack my bags to come down there. Thanks for the honor. Am always ready for you anytime. Love you. Bye Janet. They both hung up.
She packs her things and walks to where her car is parked. The driver is already in the car waiting for her.
They got home. Coming down from the vehicle she saw a young man siting with her mother in the mini garden in front of the Main house. There is no way, she can sneak to her apartment without being notice.
She moves closer to her mother and the man. To catch a look if she has seen the face before. It was not a familiar face.
“Good evening Mother. I see you are enjoying the fresh air”. She greets her mother warmly.
“Hello”.She waves at the man.
She wants to tell her mom about Janet wedding but she thought over it again.
“This is not the best time for me to talk. I need to rest after a long day and not invite nagging to myself today. Tomorrow is a better day. Will inform her tomorrow on my way to work”.
However, her mother was not ready to let the day slip by her.
“Welcome Baby,”. Go shower quickly and come downstairs.
Chloe knew what it was already. Her shock was that “how could her mom go to the extent of inviting someone to the house”.
“I have to inform my brothers about this. Mom is really invading my privacy. I just can’t be open to everyone like this. I have my privacy to protect”.
Chloe rings Damian but it was his wife who answered the call.
“Good evening Chloe, Damian is In the restroom”.
“Okay, tell him to ring me when his through. Kisses to the kids”.
She hung up and call Denzel.
“Hello Denz, you need to help me caution mom about how she invade into my privacy. I just got home after a tiring work to see her with a young man in the house. And you also know what that means. If she doesn’t stop all this I will vacate the house”.
