Chloe’s phone starts to ring.
“Hello Chloe cooper”.
Chloe spoke after answering the call, the contact was not saved.
“Hey Chloe, Am Anderson Davis”, I got your number from the dating site.
Chloe opened her eyes widely.
It’s a mix up, I did not register on any dating app. You should check the number well, bye Mr Anderson. Chloe ends the call.
Coiled back to continuing sleeping but calls from different people would not allow her enjoy her sleep. Getting different calls from different callers mentioning about same dating app.
She knew it was not a mix up anymore. She walks to the living room.
“Sunshine, hope you had enough rest?”
Cassandra greets Chloe with a smiling face. Cassandra’s pretty face glows differently after the greeting Chloe got her thinking right.
Yes!. She is behind the endless calls.
“Mom, “can you just stop to set me up with every Tom, d**k and harry?”.
“Answering calls from different callers is not good Mom. Setting me up for dates with different people I do not know is dangerous. Stop it please”.
“I will stop once I see a befitting suitor around you.”. Till then enjoy the calls, through their voice you might fall in love with one”. Cassandra answered harshly.
Chloe murmurs back to her bedroom. She could not believe her mother will go far to that extent. Her phone keeps ringing throughout the day.
She promised herself not to answer any call that has no saved contact.
The next day, her best friend Janet, who stays forty-two kilometers away paid her visit.
They last see four months ago. Janet is not married also.
“Hey, Janet so lovely to see you dear”. Been a while what brings you around. Chloe question her friend.
“I miss you, so I decide to come down here”.
“Don’t be naughty Janet, what really brings you here”.
“Well, my mother has really been pestering me about getting married I got tired of the nagging and decides to come catch fresh breathe and stay away from the brouhaha”.
Chloe laughed out so loud the veins on her neck became very visible.
“I think all mothers has the same thing in their minds. My mom is doing same and has even set up an account for me in a dating sites”.
“I get calls from all around the world now, it’s exhausting I must say”.
“Oh, am sorry get a seat”.
Chloe realize they had been standing all through their conversation.
After getting drinks for Janet, they proceed to Chloe’s room.
At dinner the girls came out to eat. Janet has not seen Chloe’s parents since she arrived in the afternoon.
“Hello Mrs Cassandra, Hi Mr Denise”. So nice seeing you both. It’s been a while. Janet greeted in a high pitch voice. She hugs them and returns to her seat.
“It’s really been a while Janet, how are your parents?. And how is your fiancé doing”.
Cassandra asked the last question to be spiteful towards Chloe. Unknowingly, Janet is also like Chloe. No fiancé yet.
Silence fell on the room after the question. Denise gave his wife a side look that is not nice. Chloe gave her mother a fixed look.
