Chapter 6 - Wolfsbane

POV -Bjorn

"Start again Madi, from the beginning, and dont leave anything out" Alec said to his little sister, prompting her to speak.

Alec and Dane had now joined me in the main study, the girl that Madi referred to as 'Ryan' was still unconscious on the velvet couch.

Madi sighed and looked between the three large men in front of her. She was sitting on one of the chairs across from the desk. "As I said, we went to Marcus Grimms house to salvage anything he might of had that we would have found useful. We go there often, Marcus said that we would always be welcome there.. but like I said, it was all my idea, thought it would be fun practicing being in control of a operation" She looked down to her feet, I could see sadness and embarrassment flash across her face, I kept forgetting how young she really was. Alec found her as a very young pup, clinging to the body of a dead female. He had taken her in, raised her like a sister. He loved her as if she was blood. We all saw her as family.

"When did you come across the girl" Dane interrupted my thoughts, pulling me back to reality.

"We went up to the study, and she was there, in his chair, but..." she went quiet, as if she was scared to say the next part. I crossed my arms infront of my chest. "Continue Madi" Alec said, a slight annoyance behind his words. "She was dead, well, she looked dead. She was pale and her lips were blue. I couldn't hear a heartbeat either.." I frowned and slowly looked over at Ryan.

'How could that be possible' I thought 'She is becoming a very interesting house guest indeed' My mind kept drifting to Ryan.

"Then, just like that, she woke up. Colour slowing came back to her face. I followed protocol, I drew my blade and aimed it at her neck" I let out a quick growl, which startled everyone. "Alpha?" Madi said, she was trembling and I could feel the death stare that Alec was giving me, burning holes in the side of my head.

"Continue" is all I said, more annoyed with myself and my reaction than anything else.

"Well.. the next part I'm rather embarrassed about." Alec was the one who spoke first. "Out with it Madi, we don't have all day!" Madi sighed and looked to her feet again "she knocked me down...with a candelabra"

There was silence.

Madi was one of our best up and coming warriors. She was the top student in her age group, hell, she could even give one or two of my top warriors a run for their money, so this was definitely very strange and slightly amusing.

"Wait now, are you telling me that you were knocked on your ass, by no other that a mere a human, who you said just woke up from a death sleep, welding a candle stick holder? You're joking right?" Dane was not impressed, Madi was his top student. Alec just looked at her speechless.

I felt a different reactiong to hearing how Ryan fought against Madi, was it.. pride? I shook my head, trying to clear my mind. I was very amused though.

"Whatever.. look, the most important this is that she could open the Relic Book, just like Marcus.. I think she's telling the truth when it comes to being his grand daughter. No one else could access the Relic Book, other than a Grimm."

Before I could say anything, the pack doctor, Seth, burst through the doors, holding a file. "Alpha, apologies for disturbing but I found something about our guest I think you should see"

Seth handed the folder that he was holding to me and I read it.

It contained lab results such as blood tests, toxin reports, a genetics test. Mostly gibberish to me. One word that I did recognize was 'wolfsbane' toxicity. Does this mean that she was infected with wolfsbane? Why? Why would someone poison a human with something that would have no effect on them, or is it effecting her? Is this why she is so sick?

"Seth, I'm going to need you to explain what I'm holding in my hand"

Seth moved forward. "It must have been in her blood stream for years, fed to her everyday, so much that her body stopped rejecting it and started needing it, like a drug.. Alpha, I think that once, Ryan was a she-wolf.. but her wolf was taken from her.. I don't know if she'd ever get her wolf back again." I said nothing, I felt how anger and rage started coming to the surface, in the back of my mind I could feel Zion whimper, he was silent until now, so it must be true then. "she's going through withdrawal symptoms Alpha, it's why she's so weak"

Alec started pacing and Madi twisted some of her hair between two fingers. Just as I finished looking over the information, I closed the file and ran my hand through my hair as I threw the file on my desk.

There was a soft groan that could be heard coming from the couch. Everyone in the room all turned to look at where Ryan was slowly pushing herself into a sitting position.

"Ow" Ryan said as she rubbed her forehead with the palm of her hand. I watched her every move, now that she was waking, I felt her presence even more, she was intoxicating. The room was silent, so silent that one could hear a pin drop.

Ryan opened her eyes and looked around the room. My heart started elevating slightly, those eyes of hers really have an effect on me.

"Miss Grimm, how are you feeling?" Seth asked, genuine concern in his voice. Ryan looked to each person in the room, but her gaze stopped when it landed on me. Our eyes locked and my heartbeat quickened its pace, I didn't like the effect she had on me.. or did I?

"Harris.. and I'm fine." Ryan said in a shaking voice as she moved to stand but her legs gave way underneath her, she was still weak, but she was conscious, so that was a start. I moved from behind his desk quickly to provide support for her but Seth was closer to her, he got to first, causing a deep growl to escape from my chest.

"What's with you?" Alec asked me through our mind link. "Nothing... drop it" I could feel that he was still staring me down. "You're acting like a jealous mate"

All I could do was turn to look at him. I could see the realization dawn on him and shock appeared on his face. He looked between me and Ryan.

"Oh...." is all that He could say.
