Chapter 7 - Welcome Home

1260 Words
POV - Ryan I woke up in a strange room, luckily not the hospital but still not home. Everyone in the room was staring at me. I recognized Madi, who didn't look as strong or brave as she did in the manor, but looked more like a little girl who just got scolded. The doctor was here with the big security guard. There was another large man who I did not recognize and the last one I noticed took my breath away. My cheeks turned red as I remembered referring to him as an angel. The doctor spoke first, with genuine concern in his voice. "Miss Grimm, how are you feeling?" he asked. There they go again, calling my Grimm. I told Madi that my surname was Harris, clearly she didn't relay the message. "Harris.. and I'm fine" I pushed myself up, trying to stand, but I immediately feel weak and light headed. The doctor ran to my side and wrapped an arm around my waist to hold me up. The angel glared at us and.. growled, "did he just growl at us?" I whispered to the doctor who seemed to be a little startled. He didn't answer my question but helped me to sit back down. "Could I please get a glass of water?" I looked at the angel-man seeing as he seemed to be the person in charge. Madi jumped up "I'll get it Alpha" she said and ran out the room. 'Alpha? was that his name?' There was silence in the room again. "So.. is someone going to explain to me why I was kidnapped from my grandfather's manor and brought to this strange organ harvesting place?" I said bluntly. The man I knew the least started laughing while Alpha looked slightly confused by my question. I then realized that I probably felt this weak because they'd already operated on me. I lifted my shirt to check my abdominal area for any cuts or stitches, there was nothing. 'okay, they didn't operate yet' I thought to myself. "Calm down Miss Grimm, you still have all your internal organs." the doctor said, also laughing now. I looked up at Alpha who was just staring at me. All of a sudden the security guard and the man I didn't know walked out of the room, almost like they were signaled to leave The doctor took a file off the desk and handed it to my. Alpha broke the silence, his voice was deep and warm, like melted chocolate. It was a little difficult to concentrate on everything he was saying. "Ryan.. what do you know of your grandfather's heritage?" he asked. He had moved closer and was now leaning against a pillar with his arms folded against his chest. "His.. heritage? nothing at all, I hadn't seen the man since I was a child. This doesn't by any chance have anything to do with that strange book and Selene does it?" Both men looked at each other in utter shock. Alpha straighted himself and looked a lot more serious, he had pulled up a chair and sat in front of me now. He was intoxicating, I'd better get a grip. The doctor left the room, it was just me and the angel-man. His deep blue eyes cut through my soul and sent shivers down my spine. "What do you know about Selene?" he asked. He was calm and collected. He watched my every move, as if I was just as intoxicating to him and he was to me. My heart started beating faster now, with him this close. "It's difficult to explain. I met her, I think it was in a dream. I must've fallen asleep in the chair after reading that book. Well, to be honest, I don't remember falling asleep." I looked up at him "Alpha, what is this about?" he was startled that I called him that and he frowned. "My name is Bjorn, Alpha is my rank. There is a lot you don't know, about who you really are and how much you belong here." he said, not breaking eye contact with me. "Your grandfather was a werewolf, he joined our pack a good few years ago with his son and his son's mate, who was pregnant at the time" I remained silent, was he suggesting that my mother was the pregnant mate he referred to? "Your father turned away from this pack, became an outcast, we call them rogues" I pushed myself up to stand and attempt to walk over to the window. I stumbled slightly, making Bjorn jump to his feet and placed his arm out, allowing he to grab on to him. "Slowly, you're still weak" he said softly. "But why Bjorn, why am I weak. You tell me all these things about people who don't mean anything to me" I looked up at him, we were so close that I could smell his cologne. I pulled away from him and walked the rest of the way to stand by the window, using the desk's edge to stabilize me. "You were poisoned, the doc says that it must have happened over years. It's working out of your system now, so you'll be weak for awhile, until the wolfsbane works out of your system completely." "Who would have poisoned me? It was only ever myself and my mother. and she passed away a few days ago, more or less the same time as my grandfather" the realization dawned over me. My own mother.. she must have done it, I started feeling sickish about two days ago, as soon as I left home. I looked back at Bjorn who was standing slightly behind me. He looked back at me sympathetically. "So, basically you're telling me that, seeing as my grandfather and father were both werewolves, I am one too?" I wrapped my arms around myself. "Yes, both yourself and your mother. The wolfsbane that she fed to you, it stripped you from you wolf. It's why you've never shifted." He starts moving closer to me. " Ryan, you belong here, your bloodline is a part of this pack, whether you have a wolf or not. You have a family here, even though you didn't know it. I held up my hand, indicating to him to stop approaching me. He only stopped when he was right in front of me, my hand resting on his abs. He was looking down at me. I started laughing. "I don't believe you. I don't even know you, and now you want me to believe in werewolves? and that I am one, yet you have no proof. What, do you just expect me to believe you, a complete stranger?" I could see his eyes turning black. His breathing increased, was he..mad? "I will advise you to not speak to me that in that tone" He said, he had pushed himself past my hand and was now directly in front of me. His being so close, sent shivers throughout my whole body. I liked it.. I liked having him so clos. "You may not believe it or understand it but you will respect me, whether you believe it or not, by your birth, I am your Alpha." I laughed again, this time out of my stomach which caused him to pick me up and throw me over his shoulder. "Hey! Stop! where are you taking me!?" I was kicking and wiggling around and he grip around my upper thighs tightened. "You wanted proof" He said, "I'll give it to you"
