Ryan's head hurt badly, like she was fighting off a killer hangover, without even having the pleasure of taking a sip of alcohol.
She instinctively moved her right hand to cradle her forehead, hoping that the preasure would somehow help with the blinding pain, when a sharp, stabbing pain came from her hand. The pain caused her eyes to shoot open, in shock. She realized that she was no longer in her grandfathers manor. She no longer smelt dusty old books or saw heavy velvet curtains. She knew where she wasn't but had no idea where she was.
Fear struck her as she has no memory of leaving the manor. How did she get here, was she taken? Last thing she remembered was 3 trespassers in her grandfather's study, then everything went black and she woke up here.
Calming herself down slightly, she took in her surroundings.
She was laying in what looked like a hospital bed, there was an IV drip in the back of her right hand, giving an explanation to the pain that appeared following the movement that she had made. There were other machines attached to her as well, one that followed her heart rate and blood pressure, which beeped monotonously, indicating her heartbeat and the other monitored her oxygen intake.
The hall itself reminded her of an old WWll movie.
It was a mid-century decorated hall, with high ceilings and large windows, draped with white lining curtains. The floor was wooden and was dulled due to many years of pushing objects around and having people walk all over it. There was about 10 gurneys in total, 5 gurneys on each side, slightly diagonally and evenly spaced out and each gurney had its own set of machines, just ready to be used by the first person brought in. There was someone two beds down from her, he looked really badly wounded and had his one leg lifted in a sling, but he looked like he was sleeping.
And then it all suddenly hit her.. Organ harvesting, " that must be what's going on here, well they're not getting any of my organs" she whispered to herself. Ryan started panicking and she hastily sat up. She threw the blanket off that was covering her and clenched her jaw as she pulled the machine tags off of her chest. She let out a soft whimper as she pulled the IV drip needle from her right hand, a trickle of blood pushed through the tiny hole that the needle left behind, she rubbed the back of her hand off on the hospital gown that she was wearing. The machine, that's beeping indicated her heart rhythm, now let out a long monotone beep, which she was sure would notify whom ever was running this operation, that she was taken off the machines. She knew she had to move quickly.
Ryan pushed herself off of the gurney and landed on her two very unstable feet. She wobbled a few moments before the double door to the right of the hospital hall swung open. Two large men came jogging through the double doors, looks extremely worried and maybe even a little angry, which caused Ryan to flee for her life in the other direction.
She threw herself through another set of double doors on the opposide of the hospital hall and landed hard on the floor of a corridor. She stumbled to her feet again and ran down the corridor, with the two large men chasing behind her. One of the two men were dressed like a doctor, sporting a white lab coat and a stethoscope around his neck and the other in complete black, he looked like a security guard, a very large, very scary, security guard, and worst of all, he was definitely carrying at least two weapons.
"Miss! Wait! You shouldn't be running in your condition! Come back!" The doctor was shouting out at her.
Ryan ignored the pleads from the men that chased her. She pushed through another set of double doors, which lead to a lawn. She really felt unwell, the sun seemed extra bright and she felt hot and cold and the same time. She tried to run further, but her jelly leg betrayed her. Atleast she was outside, she could run back to the Manor from here, she just had to figure out which way to go.
She stumbled along the grass as more and more people started moving towards her.
"Get away from me! you can't have my organs!" she pushed on, willing herself to move forward. " I'm not even that healthy, and I'm sure I'm way too skinny" she said softly to herself, panting as she held her side, completely out of breath. She felt dizzy, but she knew she had to push on.
She turned to look behind her, at the two men that was chasing her, but to her surprise, they had stopped, not one of them moved closer to her. Ryan smiled, feeling victorious.
Her victory was short lived however, when she stumbled smack bang into a strangers rock hard torso. The impact made her stumble backwards and she nearly fell when the stranger grabbed her around her waist, holding her steady. She could feel how she was slowing slipping away into darkness again, and she knew that she was about to pass out, but not before completely embarrassing herself.
There she stood, being held by this beautiful stranger. He had chocolate brown hair that fell messily just past his shoulders. He was larger that the others and extremely well built, she felt like a feather in his arms.
But his eyes, his eyes were the one thing that captivated her the most. He had the bluest eyes she had ever seen, like swimming in the deepest ocean. Those eyes... and they were all over her.
It was at this moment that Ryan realized that she had nothing else on other that a hospital gown, but at that exact moment, she didn't care, all she said was..
"...are you an angel?" before the world around her went dark.
