The Day After

I wake up to sunshine bathing my room, but for once I wish it was overcast. It feels like the weather is mocking me. My body aches all over and I wish I could sleep twenty-four hours a day. From the angle of the bed to the window, I know that I'm back in my original guest bedroom in Cass's penthouse. I vaguely remember being put in here yesterday. I remember the doctor and a couple of nurses examining me while I went in and out of consciousness. When they gave me drugs for the pain and put soothing cream on the burns on my ankles and wrists from the rope, I quickly fell into a deep dreamless sleep that I wish I could have stayed in.
