Chapter 1
PAUPERED OMEGA AT AN ALL-ALPHA ACADEMY
Chapter 1
EMERYS’ POV
All the years I’ve spent training were not for myself, but to protect my glamorous and delicate adoptive little sister.
“You’re to make sure she’s well protected and safe all the time…” My foster parents lectured, a stern look in my father’s eyes.
“It’s dangerous out there, and I don’t want anything happening to my baby, okay?” Mother emphasized her concern for who mattered most to her.
They rambled on about different warnings and what they expected of me once we were behind the academy gates.
It wasn’t much. It was simply to become my sister’s maid and bodyguard. As though that wasn’t my job already.
“Don’t worry about your omega lineage. I’ve spoken with the school council and got you a pass. This is a lifetime opportunity that you can’t afford to waste. Your sister is meant for greatness, and you’re tasked with keeping her safe until that is achieved.”
I couldn’t say a word; I never do. I’ve always been my sister’s shadow, and it wasn’t about to end now.
Once they rounded up their lecturing, I bowed my head respectfully to acknowledge all they’ve said before strutting over to the car.
Cara was already inside, texting her life away, not even noticing that I’d taken my seat behind the wheel.
“We’re leaving; hope there’s nothing you forgot to take?” I asked, at the brink of setting the car into motion.
“Are you seriously asking me that?” She scoffed, then rolled her eyes without sparing me the least of a glance. “You better hope you didn’t forget anything of mine when packing, or you’re going to come back and get it.”
I blew out a silent sigh before shaking my head. I’m certain nothing vital of hers is left out; I started the car.
Glamourous? Yes. Delicate? My foot. My sister is anything but the prim little princess she presents herself to be. We’ve been together for eighteen years now, and she has never been the one to take a hit. She’s more of the type to throw a punch and hide from the consequences.
“Listen, I should tell you now before we get there. You’re not my sister.” She puts down her phone to address me.
“We both know you’re just some charity case my parents took on, and that’s it. It’s bad enough that you don’t belong in that school with me, but way worse for them to associate an omega like you with an Alpha heir like me.” She gagged visibly, heavily irritated by the thought.
“Pretend like you don’t know me, and I won’t convince Dad to revoke your admission. It’s that or goodbye for you.” She hissed and went on with what she was doing on her phone.
The academy wasn’t just any ordinary academy. They only accept alpha werewolves and nothing more.
It was beyond me to dream of ever attending, but I guess the universe knew how to play games.
Nothing about me qualified me for admission into the academy, except for my physical and combat prowess, maybe; other than that, I’m pretty much bland.
I’m past eighteen already, and my wolf hasn’t made an appearance. You could say it’s natural since I’m an omega and my type is late wolf bloomers.
While most Alphas are born with their wolf like Cara was, omegas are meant to grow for theirs to come in. I’ll be nineteen in a few days, and there’s been no mystical stirring yet inside of me.
Cara fell asleep at some point during the journey and didn’t wake up until the car pulled to a stop in front of the most magnificent building I’ve ever seen.
It’s a castle, ancient and built high up in the mountains. The air breezed coldly, and something dangerous lurked around the hill. I could feel it.
Cara settled with the border guard, and we were allowed entrance; I guess our luggage would be left to them to transport to our dorm.
Once we were inside the building, my fascination expanded, and I took my time to savour the artistic construction. From the towering walls to the open space filled with wandering students, I could actually stand and marvel here all day.
“Watch where you’re going, prude!”
I know that voice. First day and she’s out to scratch.
“You bumped into me; you should apologize.” The guy Cara had walked into countered, pissed clean off, with his brows furrowed in anger.
“Or what?” She scoffed, folding her arms as she stood in a defensive stance. “Do you know who I am at all?”
Cara’s father wasn’t just any Alpha to a random pack; he ran the second-largest pack under his command. That’s where the influence to secure an omega admission into an all-alpha academy came from.
Cara already inherited her father’s alpha genes and meant to take over the pack once her father steps down. You could say she’s not exactly in the same league with most people here.
“You’ve got five seconds to apologize before I make you.” The dude’s eyes flashed, and a red gleam shone brightly across his pupils.
“I’d like to see you try,” Cara dared, and the guy began his countdown.
I skimmed past the gathering crowd to watch the first academy drama and arrive inches away from Cara. Omegas have distinctive scents, but a wolf-less one like me is scentless.
As the guy swung his arm to s***h Cara in the face, I moved swiftly away from Cara’s back, popping out like a shadow as I grabbed the guy’s arm before he could land his hit.
My blue eyes glowered as a warning before I shoved his arm back to his body.
“You little piece of trash. What was my warning, huh?”
I glanced back at a seething Cara, her nothing menacing, about the fuming glow in her eyes.
She grabbed me by the neck and pushed me to the floor.
“How dare you meddle with my affairs?” Her claws gave way as she slapped me hard.
