There he stood. Leaning against the kitchen island. He had a pot of coffee starting to brew, as well as a dozen of my favourite Danishes from Ruth's Diner. His expression was tight, but his eyes were all over with emotions. Neither of us spoke. We both stood there, staring at the other, unsure what to do or say. I wasn't even sure if I was hallucinating or not. "Ruby-" Tom broke the silence finally. His voice was raw and thick with emotion.
