Jasmine's POV

I stared at the ceiling for God knows how long as I finally decided to stand up. Today is Sunday and as much as I want to spend the whole day in bed... I still have to get up and do something productive. My body feels heavy and I just wish I could go back to sleep.

"Jasmine!!... are you awake yet!?" Mika's voice echoes through the door and I groaned... I totally forgot she was coming over today.

"I'm coming!!" I yelled as I slowly stood up... my head spinning a little. I walked towards the door and opened it... there she was... looking all hyped up as usual.

"Good morning sunshine!!... did you sleep well?" she said as she walked past me... her eyes scanning the room.

"Yeah... I guess," I said as I closed the door... my eyes still half closed.

"Wow... your place is a mess Jasmine... what happened here?" she said as she picked up some clothes from the floor.

"I had a rough night Mika... please don't start," I said as I sat on the couch... my head buried in my hands.

"Is it about your uncle again?" she asked as she sat next to me... her voice sounding concerned.

"Yeah... he came by yesterday and threatened to kick me out if I don't pay up," I said and she sighed.

"That man is a devil Jasmine... how can he treat his own niece like that?" she said and I scoffed.

"He doesn't see me as his niece Mika... he only sees me as a source of income," I said and she nods.

"I'm sorry Jasmine... I wish I could help you," she said and I forced a smile.

"It's okay Mika... I'll find a way," I said and she stood up.

"Anyway... let's not talk about that for now... I brought some food!!... I knew you wouldn't have anything in your fridge," she said as she walked towards the kitchen... bringing out some containers from her bag.

"Thank you Mika... you are a lifesaver," I said as I followed her... the smell of the food making my stomach growl.

We sat down and ate... talking about everything and anything. It felt good to have someone to talk to... someone who understands me.

"So... what's the plan for today?" she asked after we were done eating.

"I was thinking of going to the library... I need to do some research on my Dad's business," I said and she looked at me... surprised.

"Your Dad's business?... I thought you said your uncle took over everything," she said and I nods.

"He did... but I'm sure there's something he's hiding... I just need to find it," I said and she smiles.

"I'm with you on this Jasmine... whatever you need... just let me know," she said and I felt a bit emotional.

"Thank you Mika... I really appreciate it," I said and she hugged me.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the library... searching for any information we could find. It was a long and tiring process but we didn't give up.

🌹 Jayson's POV 🌹

I got to the office and as expected... everyone was in a state of panic. I walked past the employees... my eyes fixed on Noah who was waiting for me at the entrance of my office.

"What's going on Noah?" I asked as we walked into the office.

"Sir... it's the new project... the one your mother gave you," he said as he handed me a file.

"What about it?" I asked... scanning through the pages.

"Someone leaked the information to the press sir... and now everyone is talking about it," he said and I frowned.

"Who did it?" I asked... my voice sounding cold.

"We don't know yet sir... we are still investigating," he said and I slammed the file on the table.

"Find them Noah!!... and make sure they pay for this!!" I yelled and he nods nervously.

"I'll get to it right away sir," he said as he walked out of the office.

I sat on my chair and rubbed my forehead... this is just what I needed. My mom is going to be so disappointed when she finds out about this.

I was about to start making some calls when my phone started ringing... it was my mother.

"Jayson!!... have you seen the news!?" she yelled as I picked up the call.

"Yes mom... I have," I said... trying to sound as calm as possible.

"How could this happen Jayson!?... I trusted you with this project!!" she said and I sighed.

"I'm sorry mom... someone leaked the information... we are still investigating," I said and she scoffed.

"Investigating!?... Jayson... do you have any idea what this means for the company!?" she said and I stayed silent.

"I want you to fix this Jayson!!... I don't care how you do it... just fix it!!" she said before hanging up.

I sighed as I looked at the phone... my mom is right... this is a huge blow for the company. I need to find a way to fix this and I need to do it fast.

I stood up and walked towards the window... looking at the city below. I've always been good at solving problems but this one seems to be different.

I was about to start making some more calls when my eyes caught something on the huge billboard across the street. It was an advertisement for Bartle Billions.

I immediately remembered what Noah said about meeting my match... could it be? No... that's impossible.

I shook the thoughts off and focused on the task at hand. I have a company to save

and I won't let anything or anyone stand in my way.
