" Hey, do you know what i saw yesterday? Hehehe..." Inside the academy, a student whispered. " Hmm..what? You saw another beautiful girl? " His partner laughed. " Tsk, that's not it, yesterday i saw princess hanging out with that cleaner." He said in a low tone, afraid of someone overhearing. " Yeah yeah...wait what did you say? " " I saw princess hanging out with that cleaner." " What! How could it be possible. Are you sure? Don't joke about this kind of matter or else our head will be rolling on the ground." The student said with wide eyes, his expression was full of skepticism and disbelief. " Yes, i'm telling the truth, i really saw princess hanging out with that cleaner, they were talking and laughing in a very friendly manner. " His voice became a little loud but the other student quickly pressed his hand on his mouth, not letting him speak any further. " Let's go." They left only after looking around that no one was there. A young man, wearing academy students uniform, with blonde hair, standing proudly with cold eyes. The other student's lowered their head involuntarily, not meeting his gaze. After a few breaths of silence he spoke slowly, looking at the student infront. " Is what you said true?" " Yes lord, i have seen everything with my own eyes." The student said standing upright. Even though they were both at same age, their appearance, charm and temperament was vastly different. The blonde young man looked deeply at him before nodding, waving his hand slightly gesturing him to leave. " Jason, teach him a lesson this time, don't kill him yet. Show him the power of nobility and let him realize how high the sky is. " He uttered in a cold tone. " It shall be done." A boy similar to his age stepped out of the shadow, bowed his head and disappeared with the wind. Kris was practicing his control over the mana core with eyes closed. The black mana core inside his body kept vibrating in a strange rhythm, releasing faint eerie dark light. Not long after Kris opened his eyes sighing slowly as he spoke. " She needs at least five days to return, i hope she finds something useful or else i might have to take a different measure." His voice was tranquil, giving a sense of calmness. " Someone's here?" Kris quickly stood up from his position, reaching toward the door. Just as he was about to touch it, with a loud sound the door got smashed to pieces. Kris's body flew into the distance from the impact, coughing a mouthful of blood. " Who are you !" Kris asked in a weak voice. A person appeared slowly in front of him. His features were skinny and dull looking, with cold eyes staring at Kris. He wore academy white uniform, it means he was an apprentice mage. Even though he was an apprentice mage, a mage was a mage. A normal boy like Kris wasn't his match at all. Kris stood up weakly, looking at the person infront with bewilderment. " Baam " He attacked Kris fiercely in the abdomen. His kick seemed very light but it was as heavy as a stone piller but also extremely fast. Kris couldn't avoid being hit at all. Head, shoulder, chest, abdomen, he was beings beaten harshly. Kris kept protecting his head, covering with both hands. He just gritted his teeth, silently enduring the pain. " Baam..baam..baam..baam..baam.." Sounds kept reverberating. After half an hour of continuous beating Kris fainted on the spot. From head to toe he was bathed in blood, lying on the ground motionless. " Hmm? Was i too hard? " The skinny guy spoke for the first time and checked his breathing. " Still alive." With that said he vanished silently without making a sound. Only after that skinny person left, Kris opened his eyes, standing slowly. His legs and hands were trembling uncontrollably. He spat out another mouthful of blood, gut wrenching pain assaulted his body and mind which made him groan. Kris still stood straight forcibly suppressing the urge to faint. His gaze followed the direction where that person left. A vicious light flashed across his eyes as he spoke in a dark eerie voice. " A wind elemental apprentice mage, not bad. You will be my first stepping stone. hehehe..." His appearance was bloody, with the mixture of his sinister laughter, it made him look like a mad demon. On the next day, the same person came, beating Kris until he fainted again. He was more fierce than yesterday. This routine of violent beating continued day after day. Each time Kris was left with bloody body and a few broken bones. During these days Kris never retaliated, he didn't even ask why he was being treated like this. First, Kris was a commoner, a cleaner at that. A commoner couldn't go against nobility. Second, in the eyes of others he was just a normal boy, not a newly awakened mage, he couldn't expose his black mana core to anyone. Thirdly, he knew the reason for this kind of torture and bullying. It was because of Alicia. As a beautiful talented princess she had a lot of suitors. So it wasn't hard for him to guess the reason. If he was in their shoes watching the princess they adore mixing with a commoner, wouldn't he be furious too? Kris weakly leaned against his stone bed, his breathing was faint. His body was full of bruises and bandages. " Tomorrow, she'll return, if nothing goes wrong. " Kris was very looking forward to her arrival. Today's beating session ended only after he fainted, of course Kris was just acting all this time but his pain and injuries were real. " Shuwa " A wisp of darkness appeared which kept dancing on his palm like a fire. Sometime it would grow bigger and sometime smaller. Kris was controlling it's movement smoothly and steadily. It has already been half a year since he had condensed the mana core. During all these time with his continuous probing and practicing he understood that the darkness element was very unique and different than the other elements. Suppose, Kris was a water elemental magician. Since he had a water attribute mana core he could only learn water type spells. If he was talented enough he would be able to make his own spell. Kris wouldn't be able to make water pour out from his dark blue water attribute mana core just like he was doing it with his black mana core. His black mana core could exude darkness relentlessly without even needing of any dark elemental spell. It wasn't any normal darkness, it would decay anything that will come into contact. " No wonder dark elemental mages were hunted down in the past. Such power, no one could resist such temptation, giving himself to madness. " Kris thought inside his heart. " Even if the dark element is superior, it shouldn't be hated by all races like this. " Kris closed his eyes tiredly, slowly falling into sleep. A luxurious carriage which was being pulled by a huge magic beast was on standby outside the enormous academy gate. Scarlet flag engraved with an eagle insignia on it's middle, was hanging on the front of the carriage. It flew with the mild wind, moving back and forth. Even a commoner would recognize this flag. It was the flag of the royal family, signifying their might and prestige. Even the high and mighty nobles had to lower their head when they see this flag. A beautiful young maid in white dress slowly climbed down the carriage. She stood their in a ceremonial manner waiting for her master. Many students were looking with intense gaze, they were waiting for the said person's arrival. A person slowly stepped down from the carriage, it was a young girl with a peerless face. Her beauty could eclipse the sun and moon. The maid was already beautiful enough but now with this girl's appearance all the students felt like the world was brighter than ever. She wore a white robe provided by the academy, of course she was a student. Her ponytail was swinging back and forth with the wind, showing her innocent and gentle nature. She was none other than princess Alicia, first princess of Orion family, the royal family of Re-light kingdom. With her arrival many students such as males and females cheered loudly. Under everyone's excited gaze Alicia slowly entered the academy without any hindrance. " Lord, why didn't you go and greet her highness?" " No rush, she'll be mine sooner or later. " The blonde young man said with a satisfying smile. The student who acted like a henchman nodded. Along the way Alicia was greeted by many young male students, they all approached her with a flattering smile. Some acted cool and aloof, some acted very understanding, some acted showing great wisdom and poetic ability but they all were rejected politely with an expressionless face from her. " Lord, her highness rejected those white faces, hahaha..." The henchman spoke meaningfully. " Hmm not only beautiful, smart, elegant and also filled with great wisdom, my future wife should be like this. " The blonde young man nodded satisfyingly.
