Kris stays on the outer layer, at the very back of the academy. The academy was vast so there was a very slim chance for them to encounter each other. Kris was doing his usual cleaning duty, weeding out the grass, tidying up the garden. The sun was shining brightly above his head, a very hot day indeed. Kris wiped the sweat from his forehead, taking another breath. " I bet Alicia found a solution, with that my commoner life would come to an end. I will surely be suppressed by other student's inside the academy, without a strong background, clashing against those noble households will result in my defeat. " Kris was planning ahead, thinking about how to proceed after his identity change. Kris suddenly looked back and smiled upon seeing a figure standing behind him. " You're back." Alicia was standing behind him, looking at him working hard, with a gentle smile on her face. " Look's like you have suffered quite hard these days. " Those bruises and scratches couldn't elude from her eyes no matter how he tried to hide. Kris laughed wryly, feeling a little embarrassed. He always would keep an expressionless face infront of others but when he was with Alicia only then his cold stoic face would show smile. " Take this. " Alicia gave him a small bottle, it looked very shiny. " Hmm what is this?" Kris asked confusingly, he could guess the bottle was very valuable and pricy that he could never afford. " Just a small healing potion, it'll heal your injuries instantly. " Alicia explained with a smile. " But it looks so expensive, i can't take it. My injuries will recover sooner or later. You should keep it to yourself." Kris denied to take the potion. Potions are a magicians crucial support in battle or any kind of situation. There are many kind of potions which could be used according to the circumstances. Any kind of potion are very expensive and tough to create, the more efficiency rate it has the more valuable and costly it is. " No, if you think of me as your friend then drink it here and now." Alicia adamantly said without giving him any chance to say anything. She stood with both hands on her waist looking at him intensely. With no choice around Kris opened the bottle, a faint flowery fragrance permeated the air upon unsealing it. Kris drank the potion in one gulp, soon after, he became astonished. His body pain and bruises everything was gone. Even his internal injuries were healed instantly. The fatigue from work was also gone with the wind. " Such magical effect! " He exclaimed with surprise. " Hehe." Alicia smiled smugly upon seeing his surprised face. Kris wanted to say something but Alicia stopped him from speaking. " No thanks between friends right?" He looked in her eyes directly, both their gazes met. There was only silence for a breaths of time. " Okay you shouldn't stay here long, if someone sees you talking here, it'll affect your reputation." Kris said looking around. " So what, i just want to do whatever i want." She snorted lightly. " No, wait until i become a student. Then we'll have more freedom to openly interact with each other." Kris shook his head solemnly. " Okay, take this, i found it in the royal library. This will be helpful to you." Alicia handed him a thin book before she left. The book was black in color, without any name. By it's looks he could guess that the book was very old. He took the book, quickly hiding it under his shirt. " Half accomplishment of the first step. " Kris murmured gazing into the sky with deep black eyes. Night slowly descended upon the sky of the academy, covering it with a thin veil of darkness. Kris was very busy in skimming through the book he obtained from Alicia. He opened the books first page, slightly leaning against his stone bed. What he saw wasn't any guidance or information but someone's autobiography. Pain, suffering's, despair, endless struggle, lamentations what have i not experienced? Why? I ask myself why am i still alive? Why do i have to suffer like this? Is there any god in this world? If he does exist then why he doesn't respond to my cry! I cried looking at the starry sky, waiting for a miracle to happen. But the miracle didn't come instead what i saw was the messenger of darkness. The darkness manifested before me in the form of a human. Fear struck me like lightning, rendering me unable to move even a little. " Who are you! " Only these three words were uttered from my throat. " Death or demise ? " I heard an icy cold voice as if it came traveling directly through the underworld. This kind of voice shouldn't exist in this world. " In the end death god came to harvest my life. So be it, death it is. I regret it, i hate it, i hate everything in this world. Hahaha." " Death or demise? Aren't both the same? " Death was imminent but my heart couldn't be more calmer. " Choose." The death god's voice echoed in my mind, almost freezing my beating heart. " I choose both. " Without any further thought i chose both. Then i saw the death god extending his long sharp black claws toward me, shredding my body and heart to pieces. I closed my eyes, greeting my fate and pain that was about to come. But the long awaited pain of death didn't come. I opened my eyes only to see darkness infront. Left, right, ups and downs there was only darkness. The darkness started piercing through my skin into the body as i screamed in horror. I could hear my own ear deafening scream, struggling desperately trying to get away. " No no no....no ..." It started penetrating my flesh, my bones, my internal organs, engulfing me completely. " Is this hell? Afterlife?" I roared my lung out, but the gut wrenching pain won't go away. It was deep inside my body like a blood sucking worm. " Hmm? Where is this?" I opened my eyes and saw lush greenery. " Didn't i die? Is this reincarnation? " I was overjoyed and quickly checked my body. " Arghhhhh.." I stepped back in horror. Those large ink black claws shouldn't be mine. My body was filled with black substances. It didn't had any form or shape just like smoke, covering my body completely. A huge mana beast stood infront without even me realizing, it's vertical large pupils looked at me with wild ferocity. For some reason my heart was calm, calmer than i ever was. I met it's gaze directly, without cowering. The beast slashed at me with its huge claws. Without backing away i also punched out. " Baaam." The beast got blown far away, it didn't move after falling down. It died just like that. I couldn't believe my own eyes. That's it? Everything i have endured till now wasn't just for this? Strength? I didn't feel happy nor sad, as if no emotions exist within me. I closed my eyes only to feel a strange silence. My heart was gone, i couldn't feel it. " Hahaha...if in exchange for power and strength i have to become a heartless demon, then i shall become a demon. There's no regret." Looking down at my appearance, those hands covering half of my face, i laughed out loud. It was satisfying. My voice was hoarse, my appearance was horrifying, i was a walking monster. The world shall know my name from now on, those nobles will understand what fear is. I will make them pay no matter what. Kris continued to read the book without even blinking, he was immersed in the story. Birds were flying in the sky, displaying their beautiful appearance. The sun rose high in the sky as it's light illuminated the world. " I need your help again." Kris and Alicia both were facing each other. " I knew you would ask, that's why i brought it with me. " Alicia displayed an elegant smile. Kris smiled warmly as he felt a little embarrassed, asking so much from her. " Don't be, aren't we friends?" " Eh! " Kris nodded dumbly after his thoughts being exposed. Alicia handed him a palm sized ancient box. Kris's heart was beating wildly, the day he had always been looking forward to was near. Kris almost choked, tears glistening in his eyes. He looked at Alicia, trying to say those words of gratitude. She smiled gently, turning her back, moving away. His eyes expressed everything to her. She doesn't need his words of gratitude, she was already happy. " Alicia..." Kris murmured looking at her charming figure moving away. In his eyes she was like an untainted fairy, slowly drifting away with the wind.
